Yea I already programmed all the FRS simplex frequencies into low power memory settings.

you can do all of the channel/sub channel ones like 7-21 if you use ChIRP

Does everybody with a MINI use the same channel? 7-21 Is what MINI5280 uses on all our club runs!

Ask Barry P and you can have a channel assigned just for your club! It helps keep 7-21 open, since it's the general channel. Of course, if you're out running around, you aren't at Fontana and it doesn't really matter!

I have Chirp and VX-7R commander which has been my goto program. It also allows freebanding and has an option to load all FRS and/or GMRS Freqs. The subs are just the ctcss tones - Off hand I forget which tone translates to sub21. I think its 103.5. It's probably a little harder to manipulate the VX-7r but it can be done.

in reality the channel/sub-channel is just it transmits on one freq and receives on another... i know for West Coast MINI out in san diego we actually have 2 dedicated freq's we can use

I just picked up a Baofeng BF-F9v2 on Amazon and if you are looking for a good inexpensive radio thats a good one... it can do up to 8w of power so with the right aerial mounted on your mini you can really reach out...probably one of the most powerful handheld short waves

BTW if anyone has a Radio they want to program i have a custom ChIRP file i built with repeater stations in a 100 mi radius of Fontana plus all of the GMRS/FRS and the 7-21 and 21-7 subsets
