Yes, I survived. I looked the car over this morning and no hail damage, but there was a note with a birds footprint for a signature saying sorry for the mishap yesterday. I guess they heard how well I treated there bird friend on the highway.

O.K. I was going to update this last night but we had the biggest rain, hail, lightning storm I have ever seen in my 12 yrs. in Colorado last night. Lost power, internet the works. So I leaving work from Winter Park, CO. to my home in Keystone,CO. its around 7:45 I hit Georgetown and it's dumping, I mean I have been through some gully washers in Tx., but this was unfreaking believable. So proceed, theres a cliff wall about 500 ft. straight up along the highway and the water is coming over it like a giant waterfall. My headlights are reflecting like in a white out of snow because my car is plowing through the water because its not draining fast enough. And then the hail starts. I'm not to worried about the hail because at higher elevations it stays small maybe pee size. So I'm going maybe twenty mph., in a 60 mph zone cause I can't see a thing. It's hailing so much that it collecting on my windshield corners like snow in the winter. I go about another three miles or so and I come across the chain up station for trucks. There are cars parked everywhere. So I think about stopping and then I realize I'm at the end of the truck area so there's no room to pull over. So I keep going and the hail lets up but the rain is just coming down. Then from out of the freaking blue a small bird just plops on to my windshield scars the Sh-- out of me. I'm thinking WTF have I done today this bird was definately killed by the hail before it ever hit the car. The poor guy looked pretty beat up. He fell right under the wipers in the middle so it couldn't be taken off. So I drove for another few miles with this dead bird staring at me. Felt sorry for him but dam, I already had eggs on my car in the morning and now this. Man what was next the end of mankind as I know it. I mean this was one of those storms that when its over you say YA, I SURVIVED!!! Which I did. So now I'm approaching the tunnels that cut through the mountains and its still coming down, but I have got to get this bird off. So I pull over call my wife and tell her my farewell incase I get struck by lightning, these bolts are popping everywhere, she tells me she needs to get off the phone because the lightning is so bad. I'm thinking no SH--!!! I'm telling you my last farewell!!! So I get out and I got nothing to grab this dead bird with and then it hits me. I have my Ice scrapper in the boot. So I open the boot let all of mother natures rain in get the freaking bird, ask it were you the one who dropped eggs on my car this morning? There was no reply. I took the bird to the edge of the parking lot where I saw what I thought was dirt put it down. It wasn't dirt, it was water flowing back onto the highway. You guest it, right into the road and here comes Mr.18wheeler I can't look get back in the car and drive through the tunnel. My first dry moment in 30 minutes and I was enjoying it because I new what was at the other end of the tunnel. HELL from the sky!!! So bottom line I never got to work on the car last night. But I think between the rain, hail dead bird, I'm good!

CHKMINI, maybe you need some higher heels? You've gotta believe if you "Build it they will come"....and it wasn't flying Monkeys it was the same animal that deposited that deer in the telephone lines that made the news last week or so, that deposit the bird on my Mini. (I believe)

I'm no biologist, but I am pretty sure birds don't just rain eggs down from the sky. Although with global warming, anything is possible!

I'd say the neighbor "hooligans" liked you as much as your next door neighbors. Birds don't lay eggs in flight. Their "sphincter" is pretty tight while flapping their little feathery arms. Besides those birds are pretty smart, unlike humans with cell phones, they know you can't fly and hold on to a slippery egg at the same time.
Had it happen to me some years ago, you do want to get the egg off the paint quickly as it will damage the paint. A good layer of wax beforehand is always good. -
I'd suggest taking some bug cleaner to it or perhaps some Cosmonot from your local friends at Prima, Wash it by hand with Dawn Dishwashing Soap and get off as much as possible, take a mix of 50/50 Iso Alcohol/Water to play it safe and followup with a claybar on the affected areas (the whole car if your feeling ambitious), Couple coats of wax and you should be all better
PS-The Dawn will take off all wax -

My thought is some flying critter dropped their fast food meal of stolen egg on your poor unsuspecting MINI.
Like has been said egg can really harm paint. Glad you saw it before it was there too long. -
Crashton, I think you hit the nail on the head! I think it was a big bird we have alot of hawks and golden eagles around and they lost there loot on my car. I guess will never really know. But I like your thinking.

Hmmmm.... Strange.... So these birds were robber birds carrying stolen eggs and just so happened to bomb your neighbors as well????
OK something strange is going on.... Kinda like......

Come on Metalman Keystone is not your typical hoodlgan area. Or it could be some birds just having a good time bombing peoples cars. Think about it they were out for a joy fly early this morning. I called the Sherrif's Dept. and they said know one report having there cars hit on my street except me. The worst part if it was birds is that I feed the birds in the back yard, dam bastards. Or its just hooligans, anyway when I get home from work I got some polishing and waxing to do.

:cornut: This whole thread has me in stitches:lol::lol::lol: a bomber 'box formation' of chicken hawks flying in trail ,carrying baskets of stolen eggs and all wearing turbans on their heads(of course). They make their bomb run but all drop wide except for 3 eggs that hit home on the infidel, eater of swine, drinker of wine, believer in the false profit, MINI Cooper. Hmmmm..............:lol::lol:
Yeah, that could be.

There have been many documented cases of it raining frogs, fish and vegetables. There is no reason to think it couldn't rain eggs.
Colorado would lend itself to very strong updrafts along the mountains which could very easily be the lifting force to get something like that airborne.
just sayin'
PS: wasn't there very strong T Storms around Denver with some rather large hail ?
