I've been mulling this over for a few weeks. I find I have a bookshelf overflowing with books with an automotive theme. Some of them were read 20 years ago and still grace my shelves. They have survived a lot of moves. Yet...I keep buying more. Anyway, I was thinking that we could set up some sort of book exchange. Not sure how to go about it and am looking for ideas... I'm assuming there others of you that would like to read some of these books. I'm also assuming that there are others that would add their own books into the mix to share. What I'm thinking is that we just keep passing these books around as we finish them. To keep it simple we each pay for the shipping to the next person in line for the book. So...what do you think, any interest? Any ideas on how to do this? You will note this is in the Members Only area as I figure we don't want people signing up to M/A to grab our books and run to 1/2 Price books to sell them for 50 cents.
Ooooh, I'd be in for this ride, I've got a shelf full of intersting stuff I'd be willing to lend. First off I'd think a list of available titles with photos of the front, to gauge interest in a particular book? Second, maybe a round robin sort of arrangement so the book goes in a logical rotation to keep shipping costs down? Lastly, how would we arrange to pay shipping costs to the shipper and how would we keep track of who has what, when? I really like this idea if we can figure out the logistics.
Couple more.....the last one is the story of Henry......and it's quite detailed and interesting. some of these are just coffee table style big picture books, most are not - they're written by the acknowledged experts in that particular marque. The book by Egan is just a wonderful entertaining read.

Some of my list... by Author / Title Burt Levy - The Last Open Road Burt Levy - Montezuma's Ferrari / Book 2 of series Burt Levy - The Fabulous Trashwagon / Book 3 of series Burt Levy - Toly's Ghost / Book 4 of series Steve Matchett - Life in the Pit Lane: Mechanic's Story of the Benetton Grand Prix Year Steve Matchett - The Mechanic's Tale: Life in the Pit-Lanes of Formula One Professor Sid Watkins and Niki Lauda - Life at the Limit: Triumph and Tragedy in Formula One John Z. De Lorean - DeLorean Sam Posey - The Mudge Pond Express Nigel Mansell - Nigel Mansell Ben Collins - The Man in the White Suit: The Stig, Le Mans, the Fast Lane and Me That's a start
Well, even if it's only you and me, I'd still be happy to exchange - there are a couple of yours I'd like to read. The "Curves" book I just got, it's all about the Mullens museum in Oxnard that feathures 30's art deco designed cars and other things. I'd like to read both of Matchett's books. I have others too, I'll go did some out.....
I don't know how many folks have e-readers, but there are a lot of these books available for free as well. Is that something you would want to make available Nathan?
Minidave - PM me your address, I'll get the two Machett book in the mail this week. Rum4 - No need to have something to exchange, I'm thinking this is to share books. Once read pass on to the next interested person. Scott - So long as its not breaking any DMCA laws that could possibly have ramifications on M/A that's great. I can host files, got plenty of room on a the server. I'm still looking for ideas on how to track all this too.
Well after doing some research on my ebook editions, they are not strictly speaking lend-able books.....
I've finished with "The Pirahna Club" and would be happy to send it along to the next reader. I would love to read a copy of Smokey Yunick's three volume work if anyone has it to lend.
Still have my address? If not I'll PM it to you...... Do you know where my copy of Side Glances is these days?
Somewhere I do, best send it again please Side Glances was loaned to someone at the December Donut Munch. I've asked time and time again who has it and can I please get it back. So far crickets. I owe you a copy.
