Have a Moderator over on NAM that is a Veteran and owns a Organic Coffee Company. We are trying to put something together over there and I have suggested to him that he join over here. He has an All4 Countryman. Need to have at least 100 pre-orders so that he can get special labels made up. He is going to donate profits to a charity that is chosen. Currently talking some Veteran groups. If there is any interest here I will tell him to get his butt over here and sign up.
He has nice products and a great selection from which to choose, but they are a tad expensive [at least for me]. I kind cringe paying $6-$8 for a 12 oz bag of coffee but, $24 for 16 oz, is out of my range. I realize that this is organic coffee, but still, I can't justify spending the money.
Ok - I’m a sucker for good coffee. When I go camping with the scouts (boys are in it) I bring a camping French press. The quality and roast of the beans makes a huge difference. I don’t see that difference when drinking from a traditional drip. Also I need it after moonlighting on the MA. Clearly it’s high end... I’ll commit to a bag and can probably round up at least 3-5 more... from some other coffee snobs I know. And yes I did bring my press to MOTD. there I was drinking Mayorga Cuban dark roast “small batch”.. also organic. You can get that at Costco.. hence the quotes around small batch. That said, smooth, good flavor..
I developed a taste for the coffee in Panama when I lived there. I discovered Elita Estates coffee when staying at a cabin B&B in Maggie Valley the first time I visited the Dragon. It tasted like what I drank back then. The proptioter told me where she ordered it from. Turned out to be Panamanian that a guy in Tampa imports. I mix it about 50/50 with Folgers Black Silk these days, because I can’t handle that much caffeine when I’m drinking 4-5 cups a day. Long story short... I have my order in with him. I don’t drink cheap coffee because it generally sucks if you like it black.
I sent him a PM and suggested he join up over here. And yes, I am getting a nickel for every NAM member that signs up over here. That does not count the nickel for vetsvette but I will not tell him about it and keep that as well . . . . . .
I don't drink coffee (prefer black tea) but my better half does, and all I know is he buys his coffee from Trader Joe's and hates Starbucks. So as long as it's better than Starbucks I'll commit to buying 2 bags of a special Motoring Alliance blend. Whole bean preferred.
Think they also have tea... but I didn't see black tea. My wife is a tea girl also. Likes the smell of coffee but not the taste.
I'm the same exact way! I LOVE the smell of coffee, the taste is just awful. I'll check the site for some black tea.
My wife is the same way. Every time I open a bag to grind she grabs the bag and smells it and she comes inside with me to Starbucks. She loves the smell but hates coffee. She is a tea drinker.
Hi all! Thanks for the interest. We are really wanting to impact our community in a positive way, and if we can band together as a forum, it will be a great way to treat yourself to great tasting coffee while helping others. The prices would be closer to $18 per bag for forum members, that's our VIP Coffee Club price. Even if we decided to use the MSRP, we would donate an even bigger portion of the sales. Our quality is comparable to Portola, Intelligentsia, etc, and in some ways better. Our roasting is pretty unique, only about 1% of coffee beans are roasting the way we roast. Our goal is 100 pre-orders at $18 per 16oz bag. The pre-orders will pay for the private labeling, packaging, coffee and allow us to donate, at the minimum, around $450. Here are a couple different private labels I did for a couple friends and their gyms: Our Single Origin label style:
Love this idea, support of local community - and great coffee. I just tried to add a poll so we can track the numbers.. had some issue I need to look into.
@AWD_Rally Ok - so lets give this a shot. I just added a commit of 5 bags. Ideally to help with the overall tally, members who are committed to buying will put the number of bags they are committed to. If this works out, it would then provide a way to see if we are getting to the goal of 100 committed pre-orders and who is committed to what. Will this work or would you prefer a different way? I need someone else to commit to a bag of coffee.. so I can confirm we can see "who" committed to how many etc..
Good deal - so this will ultimately show the number of bags committed to (with some manual math).. but I cannot say its going to do a good job of tracking who... have to look into this more. That said, follow @MCS02 - cast your commitment in the poll, but also say it in the post. I'll see if I can figure out a better way in the future.
