Why are you seeing all these black pages with the message"This is what the web could look like under the Stop Online Piracy Act."? Today, January 18th many sites pledged to go dark in some manner to protest SOPA and PIPA, Motoring Alliance among them. Call your elected officials. Tell them you are their constituent, and you oppose SOPA and PIPA. Why? SOPA and PIPA cripple the free and open internet. They put the onus on website owners to police user-contributed material and call for the blocking of entire sites, even if the links are not to infringing material. Small sites will not have the sufficient resources to mount a legal challenge. Without opposition, large media companies may seek to cut off funding sources for small competing foreign sites, even if big media are wrong. Foreign sites will be blacklisted, which means they won't show up in major search engines. In a post SOPA/PIPA world, Motoring Alliance --and many other useful informational sites-- cannot survive in a world where politicians regulate the Internet based on the influence of big money in Washington. It represents a framework for future restrictions and suppression. Congress says it's trying to protect the rights of copyright owners, but the "cure" that SOPA and PIPA represent is much more destructive than the disease they are trying to fix. I hate having to click those dang black pages to get at what want to see.......Pipa and Sopa are BAD!
What do you expect from a Government that will allow you to burn the flag in a public park but not erect a Nativity Scene or a Cross.....just saying. Amerika? And yes I am behind MA and all the forums in not letting this pass.
I sent a message myself this morning. SOPA and PIPA are really terrible laws. Thanks for participating in this Nathan.
As much as I wanted to keep the blackout script running until Midnight tonight it was causing sever issues as the site it was delivered from is severely overloaded. This DOES NOT mean that support against SOPA / PIPA has waned at all! Just looking for another way to accomplish this blackout for now.
Talk about calling the kettle black..... Bruhahahahahaha, un believable...... The awkward moment when you break the law you proposed #Stop... on Twitpic
