Don’t expect everything to be as green as normal this year. Everything is blooming very slowly... Most of the trees on my way to work are still 80% bare, but a lot of the underbrush took off this past week. The Azelea bushes next to my house still aren’t even at full bloom, and last year the flowers were already falling off during MOTD!
I’ve got two more days at work then all of next week off, so I will see everyone as you trickle in as usual... Don’t really miss the 24 hour cross country sprint to get to Fontana, but I’ve gotta say that for some reason I haven’t been as excited about everything this year. [emoji22]
The BBQ at my place is still on for Friday (Any time to Any time) but we might have the rabid 5 year old running around... Still trying to see if his dad will take him early.
Hopefully the storms like we had here on Monday morning don’t decide to show back up next week... We had a tree fall on one of the cabins where I work! Had a big mess to clean up, but got it handled. The entire left side of the back porch will be getting replaced in a few weeks.
Oh, and there’s still a little light construction going on in my bathroom, so don’t mind the mess if you come over... But hey, it’s a lot better than it was a couple months ago. [emoji16][emoji106]

Probably should chime in on this one as I know a little bit about NAM and the 2018 MOTD as it was my suggestion to IB to get back involved. At the time I was a Moderator there and thought they were only going to sponsor, never thought they would rent a tent. When they came back with the tent idea I sent a message off to Barry and suggested he check with the other vendors to determine whether this would be an issue. He got back to me and said it would be OK.
Since that time the old Admin, GrayRaven had some disagreements on where the forum would go and bowed out. I continued to work on the MOTD angle and IB asked me to take over as the Admin, which I did. I had a R53 for a while and sold it for C5 Corvette. Then traded the C5 for a C6 vet. On the way back from a BRP run I said to myself that the MINI was a whole lot more fun than the Vet, the old saying "its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" is oh so true. Always been a Vert guy so found a R52 JCW. I am a retired construction exec and have lots of time hence the forum route.
Although there are a few older NAM Mods still around, they do not really have any input and it is an entire new group of folks. Many, including vetsvette, were my suggestions. IMO the golden day of auto forums is dead with FB being the big bad bogey man along with its offsprings such as LXM/Brammantor (or whatever their/his name is).
Also just so you now, Mark is still around NAM just about everyday but does not interact. I believe he is into search algorithms.
So stop in and chat if you like, I will be there.-

I caught Goldsmithy at the tent... we had a nice talk and I got to see all of the crazy engine bay mods he's done. I also dropped by to say a quick Hi to Dave. Sorry to have missed Sully...
It's amazing how small Fontana is but how many people I go looking for and can't find. They need a comprehensive wifi system and an app so you can track your friends down easily.-

So far it’s looking like Friday for Dick’s MOTD BBQ... Remember all MA members it’s an open invite, just bring beer, light sides, whatever. I can also shuttle people from the Sweetwater Baptist Church to the house if needed. ( LOW cars recommend) I will be smoking around 10 POUNDS of pig, so we might need to coordinate further foods if need be. [emoji16][emoji106]

Lol on the NAM comments. Bet they won’t have beer in their tent on Friday and Saturday.
Need to put this together this weekend along with many other things. before I fly out for the real job.

I rolled in around 3:30 today. Teddy and his wife manned the tent today. He brought a lot of great swag to donate! Big Big thanks to him. Teddy it was great to meet you and your wife. The banners showed up late in the day so I went and hung them. They look good.

The date for MOTD has only been changed once and it was because of Mother’s Day. This is our MINI week at Fontana as this week has been scheduled for years in advance.

Wow. A 1 month out forecast for Fontana weather? I don't think the forecasters could get the weather right at Fontana one minute in advance if they were stripped naked and forced to stare up at the sky.
I do like that forecast though... I'll take several days of sun and leave the nasty stuff for Sunday's drive home.-

I got up early the next morning to lead a drive and what was supposed to be a 2-3 hour tour wound up taking 4-5 hours. Our trip across the Dragon required several excursions across the yellow line to dodge downed trees and the Foothills parkway was closed due to similar blockages. I made up a drive, on the fly, with 20+ cars behind me. I also learned that sticks can get jammed up in the undercarriage and that they can start to smolder / burn after being dragged along the pavement. I had to straddle a ditch, shimmy up under the car to extract a 1" thick branch that had an end glowing like a lit cigar (but smelled wonderfully like a campfire).-
