I was thinking the same thing sort of. For sure it has made the R56 a more attractive alternative than the F'n56.
I really have no opinions either way, so I have remained out of this one. I just built an "S" for 27K, so price is fine. I could not find the Fog light option. Is it there???
Thanks Nathan. Now I found the rear fog light. It did seem odd, that you have to pay for the rear spoiler on the "S". If you get the car in black and then black out the chrome, you can't see the grill anymore and it looks fine.
This is what I didn't want to see. It doesn't matter to me personally, I'm not in the market anyway, I'll keep my R53 forever and if it explodes, fix it if possible, or replace it with another (or possibly a Lotus), but it gets back to the car being more refined at the expense of the rawness that makes it so much fun for many of us. Again, it'll have more mass appeal, but it is going to lose some of the enthusiasts along the way. It's not the "Future of BMW" I personally would like to see--bigger and heavier--but it is the direction BMW has been heading in general for the past several years. The differing reviews conflict with one another here and there, be good to drive one in person.
"Why did we make the new MINI bigger? Because our customers asked for it"..... Hah.... I bet... I want names... Fritz.... I want names... Sheesh....
yes, good points cct1 (and I knew Dave O. would put a LIKE on your post !) I forgot about the SC whine. I really do wish I had that sensation. I was lucky enough recently to drive a 2012 Corvette ZR1, and the SC spooling up and screaming like a banshi is a very visceral experience. Really makes you feel in-tune with the inputs you are sending to the motor. With the R56 and R60 turbos.....nothing...not even a turbo wail !
The only real question I would like to have answered by a designer is: "What inspired the front of both cars?" Honestly not from a VP of this or that or MF I want the answer to come from a designer. All the rest of the car is what it is even the taillights from an old Lincoln Navigator don't bother me as much as the front. Talk about making a horrible first impression.
:biggrin5: I must say that if your tail lights are so big that you have to mold the boot opening around them....they are probably too big...
Well, when the time comes, I'll buy one. I'll never bring it to MOTD, because I took enough kidding about my R56 Justa, but I will buy one.
I know how you feel. I keep our R60 JCW away from local events....I'm pretty sure taking it to MOTD will be safe because there will be a LOT of other "bastardized Minis" to keep me company.
Remember how they came out with the body kits to make the VW Beetle look like an RR or Continental Kit, or a '32 Ford? Well they need to make one, so the R56 and the F56 looks like an R53. Then all you folks, who think like the classic owners, will be happy.
Every MINI is welcome at the MOTD no matter what generation you have. It's really cool on Saturday to just walk around Fontana and see MINI's of all types everywhere you look.
