Gentlemen! Cool your jets. As far as I am concern, I accepted Braminator's apology and I will not repost my link on LXM as instructed by him. My issues with Mr. Barry were finalized with my open letter, few posts before. I have nothing more to ad... I am not suing anybody, only Lawyers win in that game. I am moving on. I guess I have to eat up that "used rim and tire"...
Stick a fork in it..... Done I understand not wanting to start a lawsuit. Trouble is folks like Mr. Berry will be learning it is OK to steal from people. I'd guess he feels it is OK because he gave you worldwide exposure for your work. I'm glad Mr. Berry is also getting much needed expose to his actions or rather his inaction's.
Barry will be at the Dragon this year and maybe someone will leave a few bags of warm steaming excrement on or under his table.
Yep, all four people who still read his magazine will appreciate the photos.:cornut: It's a shame such good photos are in such a sorry excuse of a magazine. I wish the MINI world was big enough to support another U.S. magazine, I'd love to subscribe to a good one based on this side of the pond. I have pointed this out to Satch/Roundel; a nice MINI section would potentially benefit everyone, especially at a time when the BMWCCA is trying to increase membership, but it fell on deaf ears. Roundel, with it's resources, just with 5 pages or so a month, could put MC2 to shame. Most of Roundel's editors actually made it through High School, or at the very least have a GED. MC2 started out promising, and degenerated into what it's become; a second rate rag that cares nothing of the community and everything about getting an extra coin into the pocket, to the extent of screwing people who do things in good faith. Unfortunately there are plenty of good people in the community for people like MC2 to take advantage of. Speak with your pocketbook.
All the references to (in)accuracy and misspellings led me to re-read the six year old article written about my car. You guessed it, it's complete with both... :frown2:
I was interviewed by the New York Times International Edition specifically about the MINI fad about 6 years ago (Still not sure why they picked me, someone somewhere gave them my name but they wouldn't tell me who, probably the dealer or MINI USA). The end result was quite a bit different than the interview; my answers were pretty much what I said, but they changed the questions from what they asked me over the phone to what they printed in the article. The article was fine, I had no issues with it really, but they did take some liberties probably in an effort to make an uninteresting person sound slightly interesting. It was an eye-opener; since then I take all personal interest stories with a grain of salt--magazines aren't trying to sell the truth, they're trying to figure out what people want to read and sell that. They did spell everything correctly though, so there's that. In a totally unrelated thought, every time I see this thread, I can't help but marveling how well the thread of this title, "Mr. Barry is no Friend of Mine," fits into the song "Cisco Kid was a Friend of Mine," and now I can't get that song out of my head....
Every time I see this tread about Barry and MC2 I get confused because its spelled correctly. Maybe it should be changed to: Barrie is on freind of myne.
Nathan, when are you going to post a Cisco Kid clip...I can't get the song out if my head this morning.
This what you are looking for Mark? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEDB62oKv2M]The Cisco kid- War - YouTube[/ame]
Great, I was hoping to get it out of my head by the end of the day, now I'll be lucky if it's the end of the month....
This should get that out of your head. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TWS0Y9ihyA]Low Rider - War (1975) - YouTube[/ame]
Now three "War" songs in one day. How lucky can a mere mortal get.... It does bring up memories of Cheech and Chong's "Up in Smoke", at least there's hope with that song.
