Welcome to Motoring Alliance the bestest MINI forum on the interweb !! I don't have them on my car but my guess would be they are not going to help much if any. Hopefully someone will come along with a better answer for you.

Welcome to M/A! I have mud flaps on my R50, but it's a Gen 1, 2003 hatch. The flaps were installed by the dealer and work ok...not great, but are better than nothing.

I had them on my '07 MCS and liked them. When I bought my '15 it didn't have mudflats for the first month, so that was one of the first things I did to it. Seems to keep the hatch cleaner when driving in the rain. I'm happy with them.

Yeah, I fitted mudflaps to my R57 Convertible (so no rear wash-wipe) and they improved it from awful to merely bad for getting mud and dirt on the rear window.

Welcome!
If it turns out the mud flaps work, I might look into some for my 08.
Mostly I just live with DBS (Dirty Boot Syndrome) after rain / snow. -

My 2010 Clubman didn't come with mud flaps, but I put oem mud flaps on it after my first road trip. It was a wet trip and the tires sprayed mud up the sides of the car. The new mud flaps stopped the side spray, but did little to keep the back of the car neat.

The aero on a MINI for any year is about a good as a Brick. The back is going to get dirty no matter what you do because of the air drag and all the dirt in the slow moving air behind the car.
A MINI is just like a tractor trailer with all the dirt on the back because of the low airflow from the sides, roof and underneath. The only true way to keep the back clean is use a wind deflector like this but it will look silly.
Front flaps help sides of the doors and that's about it. -
Yep I have bésame issue on my R50. There isn't a quarter panel long enough behind the wheel well and catch all that grime specially after or while it rains. I'm washing my mini once a week, I'm making it a habit. I went 2 weeks without a wash and man the hatch door and wheels looked very bad.
I get my mini washed in under 20 min.

My '03 R50 has mudflaps on the rear and it does help a bit with the crap on the hatch.

I have been meaning to ask the GP2 guys if the diffusers help keep the crud down. I have been trying to come up with an explanation I can give the wife to make that mod happen
