In Russia you don't own the radar, the radar owns you.

They have cameras on some police & sheriff's cruisers already. Not just dash cams, but cams to check plates of cars on the streets. They are mounted on the trunk lids. 1984 in 2011....

Yep, Bexley has them. The first day they made two arrests for stolen vehicles within the first hour on the streets. Report in the paper said most robberies are made with stolen vehicles. I guess we'll never know what they were really planning that day.

I wonder if they will light up the dashboard if they spot a missing front plate?
-
My town has the plate cameras on a car. They booted a bunch of parking ticket scofflaws the first few weeks and I'm pretty sure that is exactly why the cops give tickets for missing plates at airports and such. You make them get out of the car and do something instead of drive past. Once out of the car, they might as well write a ticket.
My state has very odd front plate laws. For a few years they only gave out one plate. All cars need two plates, unless you were only issued one, then one is OK. -
won't be too long before something like this is on every street corner constantly watching our every move.

It's getting close.
Here in Columbus they keep installing those red light cameras everywhere.
Paintball target practice anyone????? -
I've heard laser pointers can wreck a camera's CCD... I wonder if an infrared laser could be set to actively paint an area.

They're installing the cameras all over the place here in Hampton Roads, too.
