It's the octane thing. Sure, Premium is expensive and a PITA, but a major repair on an engine is even more so.

I try to do grocery shopping at a store that gives fuel points on my purchases. They have an in house gas station and I can usually knock off about .35 from a gallon if I use the fuel points judiciously. Having 3 MINIs makes me do this [since I have to divide my points equally among all 3 cars], but, if you only have one MINI, you can get up to $1.00 off a gallon this way.

 

Evan it is possible that you got a load of bad gas along the way. I mean in your car not in you.

I'm glad that your car is now running as it should. I'd still take it to the dealer for a look see.

 

So if you don't go shopping you are pointless???

 

Hey...being "pointless" is ok. It allows me to stay at home and NOT waste my money driving needlessly around, and THAT IS pointless.

 

YQW..just remember to burn it late in the day so you don't pollute the atmosphere needlessly.

 

My car pollutes less than those stinky stogies you burn.
