Hello all! My name is David and I drive a 2009 Dark silver/white MCS. I have always been a Toyota fan but when it was time to replace my 93 Celica (with over 175k miles) I settled on the Mini. My original goal was to keep "Donkey" my trusty steed completely stock but.... It now has a Helix FMIC, 3" downpipe back exhaust, TSW springs, TSW rotors with EBC red pads, RMW tune (Presently running stock tune as I need traction in the winter). The car is just about to hit 60k miles and just had the cold start rattle fixed and a leaky turbo oil feed line bolt replaced (was leaking oil on the turbo). Future plans include Aero kit II front bumper and a few other small items. Also I live in Germany but I am a US Civilian working for Uncle Sam. Well anyways, hello!:cornut:
Welcome to the madness David. It's good to have another dark silver rocket join us. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Thanks guys! I really think the Dark silver/white combo is timeless and looks pretty aggressive. My winter setup (pre Jsart wingtip) with my r88 wheels with Blizzaks.
Jim, I hang my hat in Mannheim but work in Wiesbaden. This is the reason my Mini has so many miles, 50 mile one way commute.
I know it well. Was stationed in Mannheim and Heidelberg for six years total. I worked at the Kaserne in downtown Mannheim, but can't remember its name right now and across the street from Campbell Barracks in Heidelberg. Do they still do the "Burning of the Castle" each year? Jim
Castle Lighting still occurs like clock work. I am throwing out a guess here, Turley Bks? Were you a transporter? (51st Trans) I was 28th Trans for Many years!
Turley Barracks, that is indeed the place. Short Staruss ride from TJ (or was it BF) Village. There was an old story about underground tunnels that connected a number of Kasernes during the war, including they airfield, but we could never find them. Turley was mostly Trans units when I was there too, but I was CID. I hesitate to say that, because this is when you will stop talking to me. :cornut: Jim
haha, cid ***** gotta go:eek6: LOL BFV Ben Franklin. No issues, after being a trucker I became a MP/Polizei liaison. I'll need to tell you some tunnel stories I heard one day!
Interesting you became an MP. There is a social site for vets located here: http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/groups/military-veterans.html Go over there and sign up. I know the other guys would like to hear the stories too (there is even a thread just for that) and we need some more Army types as it is 90% Navy right now. Jim
BOOO Seamen... I had the pleasure working with the MP's as a civilian and not in uniform. they are still close to my hear though but the friends that I made with the polizei has been priceless in more than one way. Army represent!! Mr. Jim, Thanks, happy to be here!
Welcome David, a few of us old Air Force types are hanging about too. Btw, your MINI and my 07 could be clones. I will have to rebuild my garage over the holiday with some pictures. Don
Good looking MINI there David (though aren't they all?) and welcome to the site! I hope you'll set up an M/A Garage with info and pics.
Will do Steve! Just ordered the parts for my Aero Kit II front bumper. WOOT! Still need to have it painted though, I will pick up the parts Monday. Decided to keep the stock top grill for now but may swap it out later. Parts came out to just over $400.:eek6:
David, you will like the transformation. I did mine myself this past summer. It wasn't too difficult. Here's pics of mine....
No more coupons for gas. We now (DACs also) have a ration card that works like a debit card. You must have a positive $ balance on the card and rations of fuel to cover the purchase. Price per Lit is now around $2.10.. :frown2:
