after owning a corvette,280zx and Crossfire roadster this is the most fun to drive. I have been a caregiver for my father and driving 3k a month. The car is the high light of my trips. The one issue I have is with Mini Cooper USA. The speedometer is 8.2 % high! This has to be the same error in the odometer which cuts your 36K warranty down by the same %. The last issue with this subject is the record held in the black box adds to the owner's liability in any court action. Min Cooper USA has notified it's dealers with a statement saying they accept a 10% + or - I will persue this until the power's in the USA accept a 10% deviation in Speed or demand a fix. This machine wouldn't work at all if everthing was allowed 10% tolerance. Such an awesome machine should never accept this defect.
:cornut: We are(well I am any way)an eccentric group that accepts the MINI defects with loving gentle frustration. It's just part of the MINI scene. But you are welcome to complain and a lot of us do although most of us just accept the defects like a knowing parent of an obstinate child. Jason

The mileage isn't determined by the speedo. There is no mechanical linkage. Don't worry about your car "artificially" aging. That being said: Welcome to MA. Hang out have a good time. Watch out for the occasional dougnut flying by.
