I think it's #4, here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=RC33-USA-06-2002-R50-Mini-Cooper&diagId=11_3101
So, MAP?
I just checked my Haynes manual and it agrees with the Bentley that the R50 only has a TMAP.

T-MAP measures temperature and absolute pressure...

are you in a hurry Steve? as I have a few MAP sensors I could send to you when I get back from CR. Also did you check the incoming pipes to the intake and around the MAP sensor? The pipe to the brake booster cracks on the booster.

Thanks, Chris.
I'm not in a hurry, yet. Since I hadn't noticed any actual symptoms, I drove the car again to see whether I maybe just hadn't been paying close enough attention. I didn't notice anything plus the CEL went out. So, I decided to clear the codes (primary and pending were both P1109) and see whether they return.
No new codes yet but I'll keep monitoring. There must be something out of order, though, I just don't know what it is yet. I suspect the sensor but will look at those pipes. Thanks for the advice.
