Yesterday was the Then and Now car show.. 100 invited cars and motorcycles.. half were older and half were newer.

I got to drive the Jowett Jupiter again. My favorite for the day was the Austin Healey 100M

Today I got to replace a shift boot on a friends 1999 Porsche Boxster, and then take it out for an hour drive.

Very fun car.. easy to drive around slowly and surprisingly quick to rev to the top of the powerband.
It isnt neck-snapping fast but it does sneak up on you when you get on the throttle. At 2100 or so RPMs in top gear on the highway it is just loafing around. The suspension is very compliant.. the shifter and clutch feel are very good and the brakes are phenomenal in terms of feel and stopping power.

Today was a crisp chilly morning in Chicagoland. Took the Sunbeam on a backroad drive with 10 old British cars ending at a Cars and Coffee.

BMW was the featured Marque of the day.. My favorite BMW was this rare M1 and my favorite overall was the Batmobile (because I am still a child)

I agree that crisp fall weather is a great time to take drive and who doesn’t have fond memories of the Batmobile.

Lots of very nice and often very expensive and exclusive cars for this group which is mostly limited to older European classics.. I only took pics of a small number of cars.
Next weekend is the last Cars & Coffee event of the season, but there may be a couple more casual/last minute gatherings if the weather holds out.
