Won't be long until they seal the hoods. They have already take the dipstick away. They must have thought it was too difficult for their customers to use & understand.

The digital oil level check is actually quite nice to use - but I do wish they left the physical dipstick as a failsafe.

Oh I do like the R56. Have owned two of them (WC50 Edition and a GP2) and currently own an R55. It just wasn't love at first drive like the R53 was, and took a little longer to appreciate how good they are.

Also had 2 Vettes many years ago. A C3 L82 and a C4 with Z51. Fun cars.

Cars are getting harder to mod but some company's are there to help with the Modding.

Hate to use the F word here but look at Ford.

Yes they sale cars to the masses but also take care of the enthusiast. Mustang, Focus RS, and fiesta. On their web sight they sale performance parts. They make them easy to Mod.
They even still know how to make a good looking car.

They do have a dipstick but no gas cap. Go figure.:D

After my Focus experience, I'd be hard pressed to buy another new Ford.

The Danger hasn't proven much better in terms of reliability, although at least that truck has an excuse - it's 13 years old and has 137k miles.

No. It's not. Unless it takes less than 10 seconds nowadays.

Compared to checking it several times with the dog-penis dipstick the cars used to come with?

    So much easier.

No. It's not. But you can keep telling yourself it is.

I'm guessing folks won't use the electronic oil nanny any more than they used a dipstick. You know what, you are starting to sound like a MINI salesman.

    Yeah, truth.

A question I get often is, "Dipstick? What's that?"

And thus, the real reason why the N14 cars had such a bad reputation. Hard on oil, long OCIs, and owners that never checked the oil.

Without better filtration... that's still too long of an interval.

Hang in there Zillion, I'm with ya bro and you are defending the F56 well. These R53 folks will will never change. Well, at some point they will have to, because rust conquers all at some point. :D

It's not a matter of us changing when our R53's are gone. We'll be moving on to something else if MINI doesn't offer an appealing car.

One of the rewards for living in the desert is that cars don't rust, they petrify! :smile5:

I'm waiting to see if someone comes up with a dipstick mod for the F56.

If the cpu can be figured out for reprogramming for the F56 I think the tuning people will have a field day with it. When you look at the same engines, justa and S, in other BMW applications they make more power than in the MINI. So there is good potential in the stock parts.

If you do some searching on the N20 BMW engine you will find some interesting info on how much potential there is with those stock parts.

Back on topic F56 love..... :)

The one thing the F56 has going for it is the engine I will give you that.
