Welcome to MA. I hope your wife gets better.

Do hang around this is a good place where we are allowed to share what we think. I will not rehash all that has been sead about the F cars. You are coming in on a bigger discussion on the direction BMW has taken. I don't agree with everyone nore does everyone agree with me. Simply stated I do not agree with the direction BMW is taking MINI. It has nothing to do regulations. But I will not go back into detail, I will just start channeling Dave.0.

    Don't be quick to judge

But let me guess, those that like the R50/53 do so because it actually is prettier and not because it's what they own, right?

And when classic Mini owners made exactly the same complaints about the R50/53, that was just sour grapes, right? But making those complaints about the F56 isn't.

Not believing you have become an old fart is one of the signs that you have become an old fart.

Every owner/enthusiast of a current model of a car complains about the next one.

Trucker gave a good example of the Mustang. To think the Ford Probe was suppose to be a Mustang. The owners stopped that.

When the G56 comes out the F56 guys will complain about it.

Actually I get the complaints of the classic owners they were well founded. I have an original Indian, those of us that have them do complain about the new ones. But it is not that I don't like the bikes, I don't like that Polarus is going after the Mom and pop businesses that have kept our bikes going. I know the new Indian can't build old bikes same with Mini. BMW has said they are taking Mini up scale, they are not even trying to be true to the brand. No they can't build a classic but they could keep at least one model simple, light and fun. They have changed things like the speedo and window switches to compete with the Camery. 4 door Cooper, 4 door clubman, Coutreyman..... I'm not saying don't build these models but leave the two door for the enthuses. Keep the quickness in all the models.

I am through trying to make this point. If you like it buy it and enjoy it. I am not a big muscle car guy but I love seeing what guys do with them I can say the same about low riders but I respect the time and talent spent on their cars. So those of you with Fxx cars get to Moding. That 2 liter should be a screamer. I look forwarded to seeing what you do with your car.

And yes I am an OLD FART. Now get off my lawn!

I don't think we'll be seeing Blues Traveller again.

After posting once here after only really looking at part of one thread that person has seemingly made up his mind and judged the entire lot of us for only parts of one thread.

    On NAM from same username.
I thank the person for creating content that has led to more discussion on the matter. Tis a shame they seemingly will no longer participate.

I already miss him. It's ironic that while we may all be douchebags, he has singlehandedly raised the bar on douchebaggery an order of magnitude higher, a level many of us will find hard to surpass.

He needs to realize the F56 isn't larger because of the pedestrian laws, it's larger because it shares a platform with the BMW 1 series.

You oughta let Dave in for a quick cameo for entertainment value, then you can quickly ban him again or whatever.

If anyone wants to see what a 'real' new Mini would have looked like, the 1990s Spiritual concept cars are near perfect.

Radical, compact, different - all words that scare off buyers (just like the original Mini did), as BMW were wise to realise.

Few people really want (or wanted) a 'real' Mini, they want a Golf tarted up to look like a cartoon Mini - and that's what they've got, for three generations.

The original Mini was an anti-styling car, whereas styling seems to be what Mini owners want to talk about the most. Nobody seems to care much how the F56 drives.

This discussion is more like hearing teenage boys with an excess of hormones discussing girls than old farts with lawns.....

PS Did the US get the full story on "Keep Calm and Carry On"?

My plan was to buy a new MINI to replace my MINI. What BMW offered up wasn't for me. So rather than buy a tarted up Mini/BMW/Golf I skipped that & bought a Golf. I'm happily Golfing. :D

Put him on probation. As penance for whatever crime he has committed he could be the official F56 moderator.

Someone got bent feathers over this...

If I took everyone serious about my R56 being uglier than the R53 over here I'd have moved over to the Toyota Camry forum and talk about cup holder designs, and which hanging air freshener (green pine tree or spongebob squarepants) smells better... Cripes...

    PS... it's not uglier....

Fontana Village wants you to stay in one of their tents on the end of "Tent Row".... Back in the bushes...:D And before you will be admitted into "Vendor Alley", you need to make two runs through the car wash... "You", not the MINI....:D

They are starting to fertilize the fields around here with liquid cow manure. Perhaps I could develop that into an air freshener and sell it on vendors alley.
