No you are not stupid but with CCing everything it looks flat. I would not remove all the cc'ed parts but add a Black or White grill surround first. This will break it up an little and accent what you have done and make it stand out and add depth. You could always do a crazy colored grill surround like brite Lime Green or Orange like an Aston race car.
Another quick update…. the car is currently subject to a warranty claim for some rather suspect looking paintwork on the front bumper I had originally thought it was just a poorly polished prepped area and the issue would be resolved with a machine polish. To the dealerships credit, their warranty administrator has looked at the paint and he believes its actually a paint issue from the factory and therefore a machine polish will make no difference Have a 10 day wait now for BMW to decide the next course of action - I have been told that most likely they will want to repaint the bumper. I'm a little gutted about it to be honest, but I need the car to be right! The only bonus is that the front bumper will be coming off, so if I can make my mind up about going with a black front end I can probably ask MINI to fit the bits at the same time
Attempted to install the studs today - got the 1st set of 5 installed on the hub and the wheel mounted (they looked great too) Then on the 2nd hub, and the torx bit I was using to drive the studs into the hub decided to shear inside one of the 'bullet noses' of the stud So off came all the studs, and I've had to put the wheel bolts back on I now need to attempt to drill the sheared bit out, or order a new single stud from America. Pissed off is an understatement!
As some people will have seen on Facebook, my girlfriend & I are expecting a baby. The MINI's days may be numbered I fear, but I can't afford to sell the car & loose thousands as I probably would if it went back to the dealers! Very unsure what to do car wise, but more importantly I'm over the moon with the news about a baby!
Congrats!! :biggrin5: As for your MINI, I don't think it's a lost cause. My 3 and 6 year old ride in the back of mine in car seats without a problem (I'm 5'7" for reference). Then again, they can get in and out of it themselves, so not much stooping required on my part. Having a rear facing infant car seat will be more of a challenge, but that stage is relatively short in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I would probably get my baby in and out through the boot and leave one seat down for convenience. Or at least try it before I got rid of my MINI.
Congrats on the baby!!! I have 4 kids. 22,20,17 and 15. I've had my MINI for ten years. When I first got the car, the kids, my wife and I all took a ride in it, it was a little tight. Keep the MINI. Baby's tend to be small. Tell your girlfriend get plenty of sleep. In 9 months or so sleep will be hard to come by.
Late coming to this thread.... Not a fan of the F56 but yours is sharp looking and tastefully done. Having a baby is no reason to loose the MINI. It will be quite sometime before there won't be enough room for the baby and associated stuff. (And the stuff is what gets in the way.) I have seen plenty of people hauling around their kids in their MINI. I did and still do even now that daughters are 20 and 22. Good Luck with the new baby and with the MINI too.
Thanks everyone! It's really exciting news I want to try & keep the MINI if I can! However I have been shopping around :-/
Reasons to keep the MINI: 1. You started a thread you need to finish...you make the F56 interesting. 2. The car gets great MPG. 3. Put the rear seats down and you get a play pen area. 4. The car looks like a station wagon next to the R53 & R56.
Congrats on the new addition to your family. Try to keep the MINI if you can but in the end family is more important. On a side note: this is why my wife and I decided not to have kids ever. We both like to buy things for ourselves and travel. Plus I think the world voted for that I am NOT allowed to have any offspring. :lolDave.0 Jr.?)
The only thing thats currently appealing if I need to change is the Countryman - only 1.9% APR on them at the moment. I like them when done right too
2.0 Liter Engine with better MPG in your F56...you can always opt for the 5 Door next Spring. Look how much money you can save...to buy diapers, Thunder Gray Car Seat, and a Johny Jump Up.
So, I figured that with all the baby talk, and my initial concerns about keeping the car, that I should treat it to another mod. So with that in mind, I just ordered the JCW Carbon Fibre bonnet scoop for it - pricey at £225, but I had one on my last S and I loved it. Cant wait to see it against the thunder grey, I think it will look great!
Keep the MINI. Get a family hauler as well. I have 4 kids: 1, 3, 6, and 7. They all like going for rides in the MINI, especially when it sneezes! (DOS intake).
