Its simple, because you are paying $700 for something that is advertised as a full access when its not even close to it. I have some some screen shots showing how its not even close.

    This is F/A
    [IMG]

This is my EVO screen shot with a stock ECU using ECUFlash. Same program. This is full access.

This is a 2003 WRX on the same program. Full access once again.

This is a 2005 STi, again full access.

This is what the ViPEC looks like. Not cheap, but best thing out there if you don't want your stock ECU tuned.

Thats just to show you that for $700 you really are getting ripped off. Those maps reference other maps that you can't change, or even see. Then you have names on the maps that don't exactly tell you what they do...So you make one change in that map, it goes to the other map and references it and now your changes aren't like you thought they were going to be....So really you don't even have full control of what is going on in the ECU.

Never have, never will. Frankly, I am amazed how much effort is put forth on these matters that are essentially irrelevant. Having been guilty of same thing in the past I can testify first hand on how much more enjoyable things get once you wash your hands of these childish feuds. Life's too short.

I don't know whats going to be available for the ViPEC, but with the F/A itself your not given this info. but you can easily access it through the Mynes Forums, but only as general information, nothing specific, but in reality thats a good thing in a way, because every car is different and what works for one may not for another, thats what the Datalogging is for.

That being said there are Warnings all over the begining of the F/A info. thread that it is "just a tool and will not make you a tuner".

There again that is one of the problems with threads going all over the place, everything, including the basics, get muddied.

The F/A is just a tool and like any other tool, just because you can buy it, doesn't exclude you from learning how & to what extent you should use it. And like other tools, some are better or worse than others, it all depends on the individual user and what they want to get out of it, as to whether it's worth it or not.

    Thread has been reopened.

I have cleaned out a lot of the crap in this thread.

To those of you that persist with personal attacks they will not be tolerated.

    2. Interacting with others:
Dissent is good. A well-reasoned argument is always encouraged on Motoring Alliance. Sniping, being overly snarky, personal attacks and obvious trolling are not, and will be dealt with. A lot of meaning is lost in this textual medium. Body language, inflection and tone are effectively lost so being a wise acre might raise the ire of another. Think before you post. Hello peeps, we all meet again...:postcount

I told myself that I was already a member of way too manny MINI forums, and that I would leve this one alone. Problem is this is the only place that EVERYONE I have ever helped, recived help from, supported, and hated on, can still be in one place.

I have a few different "Names" on the boards, seems like everyone knows me as D!CK though. Its ok, it is my name, and sometimes I live up to it.

I have a problem with where this thread is heading... Down that short dark alley, to a place where everyones good oppinions go to die, and we end up losing more good people. I have given up on the whole pick a side of the tuner war, and everyone's oppinion matters to me(again).

I have experiance with ByteTroniK / Full/Access, in fact I was one of the first few to purchace the tuning kit. I used it to what I thought was safe, and yet I still managed to blow up my own car. Part of that was MY FAULT, part was everyone else who was telling me it was "GOOD"s fault. Either way I am out a load of cash, and have the MINI sitting in my garage to remind me of where I went wrong every day.

The GOOD part that came out of me losing my favorite thing to do, was... It forced me to realise that NOBODY wins when sides are chosen, and made me think that if I wanted to do it right next time, I was going to need to learn to do it myself.

I've found BS in everybody. Guess I just bring it out of some people. Fact of the matter is we are stuck in the middle of a debate, sparked by ONE question, again.

Is F/A worth the $$$? My oppinion when it was released was YES, it was what I had been asking for like quite a few others. I didnt understand what I was asking for, but I wanted END USER TUNING capabilities. I thought 40 maps that I could change to my liking was A LOT! Turns out it really isnt. Yes you can do a BASIC tune with F/A (the personal version), but if you get more advanced there is too much that is left out. Even coming from Jay himself (Even though he said 2 weeks a month ago) that "You should not hold your breath on that." when I asked when the new update, and the other maps are going to be released.

Now form my other point of view, somehow the ViPEC got dragged into this. I believe it's not benefitial to the OP, because there is no comparison between what theese two systems can do. Standalone wins every time, like the pale scrawny kid holding the 45 when he's had enough.

All of the people in this camp, supporting the ViPEC are the ones who told me "ByteTroniK puts too much controll in the hands of the inexperianced." Sure enough I was the first somewhat well known person to be out a motor using the program. Now there are standlones that offer MORE user controll, and everybody is all for it?

We just seem to go round and round... Nobody ever realy WIN's at this game. Let's just keep the finger pointing, name calling and other schoolgirl games, to a minimum, so we dont lose anyone else who just might save your ass one day.

People will use what works for them and if it works, like I said that's all that really matters.

Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

    From llabmik2:
Thats because you have all your stuff expanded. Every screen shot that I took, MINI, EVO, STi, WRX all had everything collapsed. So yes if I expanded it, it would fill the left side up, if I expanded everything in the other roms it would give you a lot to scroll, A LOT more then you would have in the F/A stuff....

It works for you that's fine. You still over paid. Can you turn off CEL's with it? How about making it run in OL when you want, like at idle for bigger cams? How about if you want to run a new MAP sensor can you edit any of the tables to run it? Can you change dwell times? Able to change knock table's for lets say a loud motor, or a knock sensor that has been moved to a sprintrex? Like I said you over paid. Im glad you like it and it works for you. You once again still over paid for something that is more like 1/10th access.

    From me:
I usually don't go on forums like I use to. But I think someone needs some fact checking.

Let's start with OpenECU, Tactrix, Mynes and Bytetronik relationship:

This is very simple, since you know so much about EcuFlash, open your program, go to the HELP tab, and I would like for you to take a screen shot of that and post it here on this thread, since you seem to be the guru of our product.

    Now let's go onto Bytetronik:

Me and the developer of Ecuflash is my friend for yes and we help each other in various projects. The owner of Tactrix and the owners of Mynes came together and form Bytetronik, and this company deals with European type ECU such as Siemens, Continental, Bosch etc. This included the MINI first, and we have develop systems for other companies to flash and tune their customers BMW E46 vehicles and Mercedes W211 vehicles using the same platform which Tactrix purchased license for and charge Bytetronik to use this platform by purchasing a license to use.

Now let's talk MINI FullAccess program:

    You mentioned Knock Parameter???

    You mentioned Dwell Changes:

You mentioned fault codes disable. I don't like posting this type of stuff, but I'll give you a sneaky peak:

Is there anything else I can assist you with screenshots that I may have missed? We have over 800 maps, tables, and scalars for MINI R50 series, and bunch of them has nothing to do with making more power.

The purpose of FA is to have MINI owners around the world the ability to tune their own MINI or a tuner of their liking. The first release of 30 maps was to focus on things for basic and semi-advance tuning. Allowing MINI users of FA to get use to German style algorithms and tuning. Now since the product has been on the market for a while, we will be adding more maps, tables and scalars to the map list with updates. We were working on live tuning in RAM by writing some special code into the existing code of Siemens by hi-jacking some interpolation routines which are already there and add code to move maps, tables into RAM whilst the engine is running.

But since me and the developer of Ecuflash is working on a new vehicle to add, we can't waste anymore time adding additional custom code to MINI code right now. We have already started on it, so we can always come back to it in the future.

I am not here to compete with RMW or who ever else that tunes, we are so far from that basic way of thinking. I am in the business of tuning tools for people who want to tune. It has nothing to do with Mynes tuned anymore, this move forward is way bigger than that in a business sense. We have users all around the world now, and that's our focus moving forward.

    Thanks

All good here with all the dealings with Mike and Jay. Have a remote tune and no problems.
