Has the person's name in it, was to lazy to go change it and retake the screen shot so I just blacked it out. The blacking on the ViPEC map is fuel settings that I worked on getting right for a basemap for people with 550's thats why its blacked out.

There is some good info in here, with first hand experience with the program...With screen shots to show people why its really not worth the money and were all the controversy comes from. -

Well for one thing my screen doesn't look like the one you displayed. Mine fills up the whole left hand column just as the others you show. I use the software, it works for me and that's really all I care about. You guys give them more advertising then they give themselves, that's pretty funny. People will use what works for them and if it works, like I said that's all that really matters.
Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. -
Thats because you have all your stuff expanded. Every screen shot that I took, MINI, EVO, STi, WRX all had everything collapsed. So yes if I expanded it, it would fill the left side up, if I expanded everything in the other roms it would give you a lot to scroll, A LOT more then you would have in the F/A stuff....
It works for you that's fine. You still over paid. Can you turn off CEL's with it? How about making it run in OL when you want, like at idle for bigger cams? How about if you want to run a new MAP sensor can you edit any of the tables to run it? Can you change dwell times? Able to change knock table's for lets say a loud motor, or a knock sensor that has been moved to a sprintrex? Like I said you over paid. Im glad you like it and it works for you. You once again still over paid for something that is more like 1/10th access. -

Well I have no idea as I don't need to do any of those things. CEL's I have a scanner before I even bought this. If I paid too much what do you care? Really, why do you and the others even care what other people do? I don't care what you do and I'm not saying it a bad way. -
You don't want to do any of those things because you think tuning is just a AFr and timing.
I care because this program is a joke. I hate watching people get robbed. That is why I care. EVERYBODY that has bought it has got robbed in cost. Its more like a $200 program and that is just because the OP2.0 is $169,
Tactrix Openport 2.0 and ECUFlash is free so thats $31 dollars for the trouble of finding about 34 maps in 8ish category's. The amount of maps is a joke for that price. Can you tell me what EVERY map in the program does?
By the way, ECUFlash is free, those maps are free that you see for the EVO, STi, and WRX. The only thing you have to pay for is the OP2.0. See how much more tuning capability you get with the FREE STUFF. Yes it has a group of people behind it working on it for free also, but its FREE. You paid for this and you get basically nothing.
You already spent your money, you like the program thats fine. If I can get just one person from wasting their money if they come read this thread then I did something. Get a tune from a real tuner, or save your pennies a little longer and get a real tuning solution. This thing is nothing more then a glorified expensive piggy back that you don't have to cut wires to install. -

The STi and EVO have very, very good flash support and its free. This is not normal in the aftermarket world.
The F/A works fine for tuning MINIs, it doesnt have check sum fixes but works really well for AFR and timing adjustments. If your car has all of its emission equipment then you dont need check sum fixes. Software with check sum for euro cars is around $10k. I feel the F/A is a good deal for a MINI tuning option and we use them to tune at my shop. -
If you want to do a comparison do it accurately, the Vipec & F/A are like apples & oranges, if you want to compare the Vipec to something then compare it to other stand alone devices, and of course for right now it's the hands down winner.
Then compare the F/A to other "factory ecu" options that are available for "the Mini", so the choices are basiclly 3:
1. Find yourself a tuner, set it & forget it, and yes your least expensive option.
2. Buy the good software and have access to everything, about 10k.
3. Buy the F/A, you don't have access to everything, but you have access to what you need, and the most important part, you have access any time you want, no hunting down a tuner, or dealer to make adjustments or clear dtc's & adaptaions, just plug it in & do it.
Another thing that hasn't been mentioned as a plus to the F/A that I'm taking advantage of is using it as a learning tool, personally I wanted to learn tuning, but have no time for classes & a proper education, so with the F/A I've been able to learn at my pace and get a better understanding of whats going on. I haven't learned everything of course and still am a novice, but I know far more now than a year ago when this all started.
As far as value goes, it's not the greatest in the tuning world, no arguement there, but for the Mini, if you don't want to just set-it-and-forget-it, it's actually a good option for the person who wants more without spending 10k. Don't forget right here we're talking about what you can do and or get for your "Mini", and as we all know as a performance comunity we haven't ever had all the choices that many other car owners have.
In a nut shell, if you have the desire & know how, and don't want to use the factory ecu anymore, get a Vipec.
If you want or need to use the Factory ecu, either get it tuned & leave it alone, or get the F/A and use it when ever you want. -
The only issue I have with the F/A is that it is put out as a program that is F/A and that it is over priced for what you get. That is it. -

Nathan had a rebuild, he has had his car retuned with F/A and it was not done by Mynes. Why do you think it was rebuilt? -
Just saying..............................

PS: I have had the FA for a few years... and still have not done anything but data log!! LOVE IT!! -

Jason are you really going to tell everyone you developed F/A ? We all know that's a stone cold lie.

Upon leaving AMVIV and headed to Cali in 2007 the MY lightweight crank pulley cut into the belt tossing it as I climbed the big hill out of Vegas into Cali. The car overheated then. I figure at the point the damage was done. The shop that did the two rebuilds after did not measure the bore to the extent Chad's machine shop did. There were out of round cylinders. Throwing new rings or new pistons at the engine did not fix the problem.
It was not due to the tunes. -
