    Thread has been reopened.

I have cleaned out a lot of the crap in this thread.

To those of you that persist with personal attacks they will not be tolerated.

Have a problem that I edited your thread? See the Motoring Alliance Member Policy please.

    Some highlights...

    1. General Policy:
    Don't be a Jerk!

    2. Interacting with others:
Dissent is good. A well-reasoned argument is always encouraged on Motoring Alliance. Sniping, being overly snarky, personal attacks and obvious trolling are not, and will be dealt with. A lot of meaning is lost in this textual medium. Body language, inflection and tone are effectively lost so being a wise acre might raise the ire of another. Think before you post. Motoring Alliance reserves the right to delete, move, modify, and/or otherwise moderate your posts as we see fit, without notification to you, the author.

Please continue with the discussion, please do not continue with personal attacks.

Why not put a dislike button so you can track what folks think about some posts w/o needing to report them?

Now that's a good idea  Maybe something like, if 2-3 unlikes show up it sends a message to the moderation crew?

There is the ignore feature. So those responsible for 98% of reported posts which 100% of the time complain about the same handful of individuals can use it to not see the topics they find so controversial and detrimental to their blood pressure. As a matter of fact, I would like to encourage the use of the feature.

Because the software behind the Like button does not support the opposite. There are mods out there to add the Unlike button but in testing those mods have conflicted with other mods on the site.

An Unlike button is subject to abuse too. You may have noticed Motoring Alliance does not use the built in reputation system either. This ain't my first rodeo, I've been a forum admin of various sites since 2001. In every case where the reputation system was used on the site a handful of members abused the system for their own agenda. Yes, that would happen here too.

    Nathan, Jerry,
No problem, I understand the potential problems and support your decisions. Unfortunately the few that seem to have an agenda don't seem to be getting the message.

Never have, never will. Frankly, I am amazed how much effort is put forth on these matters that are essentially irrelevant. Having been guilty of same thing in the past I can testify first hand on how much more enjoyable things get once you wash your hands of these childish feuds. Life's too short.
