We would like to share our results on the R56 Automatic & JCW. For the Auto R56 owners, we can make your Auto run like a stock JCW For the JCW owners, we can make your JCW even faster Both of these test cars are on all stock components except with the added K&N Intake System. R56 Auto: Stock: 150whp | 170wtqe Tuned: 173whp | 193wtqe (+23 whp & +23 wtqe)... Graph below: If on any other dyno, you'd think that those numbers are not really that impressive... well, to give you a comparison, this is more HP/Wtqe than a stock R56 JCW: Stock R56 JCW : 169whp | 183wtqe Tuned R56 Auto: 173whp | 193wtqe (+4 whp & +10 wtqe)... The graph tells a better story...
For JCW owners, we can make your car even faster. The same JCW listed above with its numbers. Actual Dyno output numbers (not SAE): Stock Config: 169 WHP | 183wtqe Custom Tuned: 198.4WHP| 201.8 wtqe (+29WHP | +18.8wtqe) Below is the graph comparison. The power gain is throughout the entire graph and the car feels like a totally animal. Gas Mileage post-tune: => Automatics - range from 450 mile to 490 miles per tank (Shell or 76 Gas stations) - spirited street/hwy driving. => JCW - range from 360 to 400 miles per tank (Shell or 76 stations) - spirited street/hwy...
So....... The first set of graphs. Is this the results for a MCS auto compared to a Dealer installed JCW up-grade on a MCS auto? And the second graph of a factory JCW manual trans?
It's the same JCW in both comparison... the first one is the STOCK JCW power, the 2nd post is the 'before and after' of the same JCW. Hope that clarify some things.
Yep! Was thinking the factory JCW only was only available as a manual. So due to efficiency loss in an auto, a manual should see a slightly higher WHP?
the manual-S are likely around 10whp higher than the auto-S... we will post more results once available. I have to say, the Auto-S were a little sluggish before the tune, but post-tune, they are a blast to drive. And to get that great of a gas mileage, that's a great combo for DD
Mike, Could you give us an overview on where ECU tuning is for the MINI 53 & 56. Will we see remote tuning anytime soon? What limitations should be expected for remote tuning. Will remote tuning be done via laptop/tuning program or will it require a unique third party device? Just seeking a broad overview. Thanks
Hi Ron, the remote tuning will happen really soon. I'll try not to jump the guns by getting into too much details before the product is released. The remote tuning going to be geared toward isolated users who are not near a tuner/dealer. Face to face and one/on/one service is definitely better than remote. What happens in a lot of cases is that there are inherit mechanical issues with the car that can not be solved by tuning, and many times, the car that's being tuned will exhibit problems afterwards that get blamed on the tune. I think that's the biggest inhibiting factor at this point. We approach right now is developing a qualified network of dealers throughout the country and have customers go thru these contact points. Like i said, once everything is in place, then we will make the announcements Cheers...
Just an update, the Mynes tuned ABF R56 TA JCW just ran 1:27.6 at the SOW on Street tires... with the following mods: - 2009 MINI Cooper-S JCW - ABF Upgraded IC - Mynes Custom Tune - ABF's Spec Eibach custom lowering Spring (Prototype) - ABF Spec Racing Pads - ABF Custom Turboback exhaust - OS Racing Clutch - OS Racing Diff - Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 tires - Enkei racing wheels - VP 103 Racing fuel
2009 Redline Time Attack Customer Appreciation Day @ Streets of Willow Springs It doesn't give much detail on the config, but i reckon it's the 'normal' one... Car in its stock form ran 1:32 back in Sept... with these mods: - Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 tires - Enkei racing wheels - VP 103 Racing fuel So we added these parts and chopped the time by 5 full seconds: - ABF Upgraded IC - Mynes Custom Tune - ABF's Spec Eibach custom lowering Spring (Prototype) - ABF Spec Racing Pads - ABF Custom Turboback exhaust - OS Racing Clutch - OS Racing Diff
I meant CW, or CCW. Just so it is apples to apples, was the track change to the chicane there in September?
Pretty damn impressive guys. I'm definitely looking forward to Jay and Hubie cracking the latest edition of the R56 software!
