Exactly and understandable if that is what happened.

So after several thousand dollars and shipping your car half way across the country, they sent you home with 208, a 17hp gain and you even got a big valve head too... Just seems to me that 208 from all they had done would have merited some concern from them that something might be amiss, not just a pat on your back and fond farewell.....
I'm sure your expectations were much higher than that?

Are we really going to get into the Technical aspects of Chassis Dyno Tuning and the varied results from day to day if not hour to hour?
Also a 3rd party conclusion based on limited information and facts at this point?
Can we say "witch Hunt" -
I was going to stay out of this thread but since you continue to post about stuff that is NOT in the Mini community I had to chime in. First off, call around to Mini vendors. How many have blocks sitting around ALREADY , Hot tanked, Bored, Honed and ready for assembly? I know of one..........figure out who that is.......
It's been well documented on multiple forums that using the same dyno with the proper fans etc that your hp numbers will be within a few hp from day to day. If you actually had thousands of hrs of dyno time like I do you would know this to be true and factual. In fact we have never even seen a dyno from your car.
Yes, using the SAME dyno before and after will give you a VERY good indication of exactly what your modding progress is doing. We always dyno the car for the customer so they can see exactly what the got for money spent. -
N2MINI MINI of the Month
Nitro, please I know it's getting late but!!!!
Surely you can attest that any MINI with a BIG valve head and the corresponding mods to go with it would warrant more HP then he received!!!! on any dyno, on any coast, at any altitude... with a half a$$ tune.. ( which apparently is all he got )
Since you are backing the Mynes guys up on this what are they saying about the situation!!!! we'd all like to hear it... -

5% gain for a built brand new 0 mile motor and a big valve head cam and header. Seems wrong anyway you cut it. Alex put some pictures up of the cam...

Which Cam?

That looks like spalling due to grinder burn to me.

So much info...so glad I have a Justa.... -
I know my word counts for pretty much nothing around here, but for what it's worth, over the last two years, Mike and Jason have done everything right by me. My V2 headers are trouble-free (no leaks, just passed a smog check, sound awesome, work well) and the Mynes tune is two years old with not a single hiccup. I had a misfire once - I took care of it immediately. A casual inspection led to the discovery of a broken valve spring, certainly not a product of Mynes' work.
-
Look out you now have a target on your back, you said something good about Mynes. This story reminds me of a car Steve rebuilt last year, Endyne BV head, forged pistons,..ect...ect..ect. Tells the kid, " you need to break it in before you hammer it", what does he do.....he hammers it leaving the driveway :eek6: A few months later....he comes in with engine problems and a smoked clutch :frown2:

I knew there was another side to the story and am glad a Mynes representative chimed in here. I understand the OP is pissed because he spent a mountain of cash on his car but can now surmise that Mynes did NOT play the evil scoundrel here sounds like they made a error in judgement ie: tuning an engine that was not healthy in the first place but the way I see this is the OP played a big part in his own dilemma.

Jim just because you drive like a grandma doesn't mean the rest of us do.
End of the day regardless of what jason told him he took his money and tuned it.
That makes him responsible. -

My grandma drives like a maniac! But it's not an old age thing, she's always had a lead foot.
