I will try to get in touch with the guys from today and find out what site exactly . They claimed it has been going on for the past few months . I've never gone there myself . randy P.S I know they are both Mac guys if that makes any kind of differance .
I wonder if any of the other websites in IB's portfolio run similar software as NAM..given it was purchased, rather than organically grown in-house by IB. I kinda suspect that given the history of NAM, there are some major differences....and the folks at IB don't know it as well as the other sites they support/own. Then again this entire situation does sound a bit like a parable... Folks love mini, folks start mini site...big company buys mini site, then since working for somebody else is never as good, site starts to slip.....the site grown and nourished grows and starts to prosper, with all organic growth...kinda like the Mini brand for the first few years!! Just proves...if you are going to run/own a bussiness, you need to have love for it, so you can routinely give 110%!! No matter how dedicated an employee is, they just work someplace...but an owner has a reason to do it right!!
NAM was letting me in a few days ago, but I can't get in again. Seems they haven't managed to find and resolve their problem yet. Running my Linux net book via Firefox. But it appears to work for Opera browser.
But they do list another MINI forum besides NAM, MiniCooperForums.com. Never heard of it before. It seems to have low traffic and infrequent posts.
IB is missing a huge opportunity... They own vBullitin as well. Seems that they should be letting all thier forums that use vBullitin know about the latest and greatest in security, threat, configuration and optional items monthly. Share best practices so to speak. But I'm guessing they don't. I looked at the quantcast numbers for some of thier other automotive sites, and some have been hit, and some haven't. Seems that each site is an island with little information flow among them. Sad, and a missed opportunity to really improve the breed. Matt
Doc, IB has an internal team that manages the back end for all their sites. The listed "admins" for a site only have very basic permissions and cannot access the server for any back end work. Often when IB wants a site there are other sites the owner may have in a network. Usually the entire network is purchased and those that are duplicates of existing larger sites in the IB portfolio are left to languish.
If that's the case... Then they were just lucky that some were hit and some were not. Anyway, I hope that they step up thier game and get more proactive. Matt
My son is taking a business trip to NYC and staying in a Hotel. My worst fear is that he brings those buggers home with him. Uggg.
I'm not sure which is worse. The bug itself, or the fact that it is actually on someone's skin. Ewwwwwww! Gives me the creepy crawlies.
Instead of referring to NAM as the sewing site, maybe we should start calling it the bedbug site.
