Every so often since I bought my car I have gotten a p1036 code. I clear it and it goes away for a while. I have decided to replace it and call my local dealer. He quoted me a price of over $300.00. WOW... I looked around and did some searching and came up with the NGK 25648 Oxygen Sensor - NGK/NTK Packaging as being a OEM sensor. I have also read that people have problems with aftermarket sensors. Has anyone used this oxygen sensor and did you have trouble with it? As always, TIA for any help. PS, it was only $88.00 at Amazon.
Call Chad at Detroit Tuned and order one from him and you will get the correct one. He sold me one 2 years ago at the Dragon and Nick installed it and I have not had any problems since.
Ditto - I was having the same problem at MOTD... he had a specific one he recommended. Put that bad boy in and off I went. No issues yet.. granted I’m running R56.. so not exactly the same.
I just put in 2 new NGK O2 sensors on my R53 JCW (both pre and post cat). It has only been 100-200 miles, but they are working well and no codes thrown. $89 on Amazon. FYI: a deep o2 sensor socket will make the pre cat sensor easier to do. I used an offset i2 sensor socket for the post cat sensor, but a wrench would fit easily... I bought a multi socket set from amazon and had it with me under the car.
O2 sensors have become a “need to pack part” if you are going on a long trip besides the Dragon. I let Chad and DT crew bring the spare parts I “might” need at the Dragon. If they don’t have what I need I can always bum a ride to MINI of Knoxville, or Aaron with Outmotoring may have what I need.
Thanks for all the help. I agree with you about Chad and Detroit Tuned. Dave, what other parts would be on your "need to pack parts' list? In Sept. I am going to EuClair Wi. and I don't know of a MINI dealer around there.
A spare SC belt for sure because if it breaks you are going no where. You should not drive your car without the water pump running. It will stop running with a broken belt since it runs off the backside of the SC. For everything else there is Mastercard.
I've got a supercharger belt, an idler pulley (I've got a spare and it's small) and some lug bolts. A belt tool and a code reader are also in the bag. One of my old O2 sensors is OK... I'll throw my old pre-cat sensor in the bag. My first R53 went through clutch slaves like crazy, so I had one of those in the boot at all times.
