Schultze's consistent issues have FINALLY been diagnosed: blown head gasket & possibly the cylinder head as well. Looking for a reputable source for cylinder head. Need to get Schultze back on the road prior to MOTD. Any & all input, comments, suggestions & warnings would be greatly appreciated.
Had been 1 or 2 on here for sale lately. Would be a good time to upgrade if money allows!! On a side note did you ever get the splitter installed?
Splitter hasn't been installed yet. I have a claim pending with a tow truck company (subcontractor with Nationwide Ins. towing coverage) due to totally DESTROYING the bottom edge of the aero bumper with the tow chain.

And there was this one: http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/1st-generation-parts-sale/16982-mini-cooper-s-cylinder-head-650-a.html Core alone is $400 or $450 (don't remember) so $650 would be ok for a fresh one, I guess it just depends on your trust level.
I fitted a used S head with no issues. The S head has better exhaust valves. Got it from Ebay UK for $90 complete with cam , it had done 20,000miles, the reason for the sale was he swapped it for a ported head. My company paid for the shipping so it was a bargain.
The r50 and the r53 are the same with the exception that the r53 has a higher quality valve for the SC, but they both 100% interchange!! Upgrade?? see Thumper Performance | The OTHER MINI Head! TPR1 OR Ebay US had a rebuild from Dover for sale for $650.00 I believe. I called them and they only had 6 of these.. so check EBAY out. Another source IS Ebay.co.uk. Shipping TO the US is around $180.00 Hope this helps.. Ya?? Just me................................. Thumper
