Just watched The International via streaming through a PS3. Not bad. But there was some very noticeable horizontal motion blur. I bit nauseating at times. Definitely not HD, either. Need to figure out whether it's me or them.
Never had that kind of thing happen. It will say if it is HD in the film info that is in your queue. Mark
The type of movie streamed depends on your connection as well. If you notice, when you select a movie to watch it comes up with a screen saying something about determining quality. If your connection is good enough you will get the movie in HD if available. If the connection is not good enough or the speed drops during playback you will drop in quality.
Some online forums claim Netfilx requres 6 mbps for HD streaming. I am benchmarking at about 5 mpbs on DSL. After doing some troubleshooting last night I thinks some of the issues might have been: 1. Bad download, or movie file. (I've yet to duplicate it on any other movie). 2. I added the movie to my instant queue through my computer, but watched it on my PS3, so there could have been some encoding issues with the streaming service getting confused about something. Once I figured out to add movies to the queue through the PS3, I've yet to see issues and I've tested it on content with a lot more action sequences.
I don't see how we can add to our queue through our Blu-ray. Maybe the disk they sent you has more capabilities than our player has built in. So how was The International? Going to watch UP, on disk later. Mark
Different platforms seem to have different interfaces. I have to run it by inserting a disk into the PS3, but XBox runs it of an app installed on the box. So hard to say what's available on what. The international was OK. Reminds me of something else, just can't put my finger on it. Not too many explosions, etc. which I appreciate. The plot could have had more twists.
UP was fun to watch, the dogs were great. It was the first disc with an issue though, the video stopped at one point, but the sound kept going:confused5:. Hit rewind, then play, then FF back to just before the point it stopped and it was fine. Mark
Mark, You can add movies to the PS3 queue. All you have to do is press up on the remote to get to the tabs above the movie list. You can then press left-right to get to new tabs. It has tabs for new movies, TV shows, and lots more. A little more difficult to find than the Xbox is.

Standard Definition. Old style TVs. DVD is an SD standard. Interestingly enough, since I've gotten the PS3, I've yet to watch an SD DVD on it.
