I have a long sad story. I don’t know the ending yet but here it is so far…….

On Monday a guy messaged me on BAT about the car. He called me and told me he had a client that found a 308 really cheep and was about to wire the dealer the Monet. He stoped him and till he could look into it. He found the dealer web sight in Austin TX had lifted all the pictures and description from BAT. I called them and acted like a buyer. After a while I told him that was my car,I called him a dumb a$$ perhaps I should not have lost my temper. I told them take it down or I would go to the TX State police. They did take it down. Then on Wednesday I went to register the car, after a 2 hour wait I was told my car was reported stolen in TX and I could not get a tag. I have talked to the Austin Police and filed a report with my local police. They are going to work together. So now I wait.

When I went to file the report the officer at the deck said they would tow my car, that is not an option. Another officer straightened that out and they took the report.

The car has never been in TX so I am convinced it’s the scammers just causing trouble.

Wow !! What a nightmare. You have the car, you have the title from a reputable seller, so how long will it take to clear this up

Not really. The detective came by yesterday. He is digging to see what he can find, no progress yet.

It would seem like the digging or least a large amount of it should be taking place it Texas as that’s where the problem started/was reported, but having no knowledge of how these investigations are handled any thoughts I have are most likely incorrect. Hopefully you’ll be driving your dream car soon.

Saturday I installed the new oil light sending unit and took it for a 20 minute ride. It was not running bad but it was not smooth. I went home and changed the plugs. It seemed much smoother. Sunday was my first real drive in the car. I took it on about a 40 minute drive through some nice roads. I am blown away, it’s everything I hoped it would be. It pulled strong all the way to redline and the sound of the webers and Ansa exhaust is intoxicating! I have driven 2 other 308’s both in very ruff shape both were very slow. Because of this I was surprised how quick my 308 is. You guys know what I mean, quick for a 1978 308. It does have a euro engine and no smog equipment, I don’t know how much that adds. It does not matter the car is more than the sum of its parts. I am in love.
The only down side is 3 gear synchro is in bad shape. When I would take it to red line it would grind going into 3th. First I thought I did not press the clutch down all the way. Second time I tried rev matching. The only thing that works is a very slow shift. I can nurse it along for now, I don’t plan on racing it. A guy told me on Ferrari chat the grinding could be a bad bushing on the shift fork. I will have to look into it more. For now it is fine.
I took these on the drive.
