Wow !! What a nightmare. You have the car, you have the title from a reputable seller, so how long will it take to clear this up
Wow that truly sucks. I hope this all works out for you. You may need to get a lawyer involved to protect your interests and possibly go after the scammer. Does BAT know about his attempt to sell your car? Seems they should be doing a better job of checking on seller's. Does BAT have some liability here?
I called BAT. There is not much they can do at this point. They did vet the seller, he is legit and willing to help. BAT said they have to list the vin for transparency. They did say if I can’t get this resolved to call and they would see if there is anything they can do. I have thought of getting a lawyer but a good friend that is retired law enforcement say I should wait.
It will be interesting to see what Texas does as I believe it’s a max $2,000 fine and a max 180 days in jail for filing a false police report.
No, yesterday the case was finally assigned to a detective. He is coming over today to check the vin and look at my paper work. The 5 number vin is screwing with their mind.

It would seem like the digging or least a large amount of it should be taking place it Texas as that’s where the problem started/was reported, but having no knowledge of how these investigations are handled any thoughts I have are most likely incorrect. Hopefully you’ll be driving your dream car soon.
I GOT MY TAG! When this all started a friend said it was a government mix up. He is retired federal law enforcement. He said they saw this all the time with guns. Same serial number deferent model gun. Anyway I did not think so because she said Taxes. He kept saying between a scammer and the government being the cause, he would chose the government. You know where this is going? So the detective could not find where it had been reported stolen and nether could the Austin police. I told him I would go try agin. When I was waiting at the county clerks office he called and asked if I had gone yet and that he had one more place he was going to check. I told him I’m I was there waiting my turn. He told me not say anything and see what happens. I waited 2 hours, one person was working. When my number was called a second lady was just sitting down. She looked like someone I knew. Once she saw my name she said, Lee its Trella! She is my brother-in-law’s sister. I have not seen her in years! She typed everything in and told me the cost, then said hold on. She picked up the phone and said there was an old theft report on the car. She told the person on the other end about the report and gave him the VIN. I heard her say no it’s a Ferrari. She hung up the phone and said its taken care of. It was what my friend said, same VIN different make. What are the chances that after a long wait she would show up and help me? I told the detective what happened. He is going to talk to her to close the report. He told me before he hung up the phone that he was going to call Austen and have the dealer investigated. He said the dealer looks very suspicious. A lot of random things happened and now a scam dealer is going to be investigated. I don't believe in luck or coincidence when it’s a long chain, yes I am Christian. So the story ends well.
Well..........I cant..........yet. I washed the motor Tuesday. yesterday I cranked it up and found an oil leak. The oil light sending unit is leaking, about a drip every 30 seconds. The part will be here Saturday.
Well I g Guess you’ll just have to dream about driving your dream car for now, but on the bright side you’re getting to bond with the newest member of your ever expanding collection of automotive history.

Thanks guys. Tomorrow is a C&C my part is due to arrive between 8 and 10 AM. If it gets here at 8 that would be great! but if not we will take a long ride in the afternoon. I would drive it like it is but I dont want a mess and if it fails that would be bad.
