Cool! Mine should arrive in March silverwhite black roof signature series. 170-mile mountain drive home plenty of charging stations we'll see how long that takes. I'm getting it for my commute 60 miles a day plus running around during the day.

I'm excited to get this car I have never bought a car knowing so little about it even the dealers can't tell me much but I have wanted an electric car for a long time over 20 years.

My commute will put the range to the test for sure uphill both ways with gradual downhill both ways the way the road is divided so not great regen on the downhill the heat or air will always be on also get stuck in winter wrecks with heat and lights on. I'm leasing it in case it sucks they said no early return penalties just give it back. I do about 70-80 miles a day sometimes more I can plug in at work so I should be good I'm actually hoping to not plug in at home if I can get a solid 75 miles in bad conditions out of a charge I should be able to do that.

The dealer can't tell me if I can precondition the car without being plugged in. I know the idea is to use the power from plugin rather than batteries to pre-heat/cool the car but I'm thinking if I have enough battery that getting in a warm car would be nice. And not add to the home power bill I won't really notice it at the shop as the bill is big and varies a lot anyway.

It has CCS DC fast charging it seems more of the stations around here use a system called chademo but apparently that's being phased out or at least updated to include CCS in time but for now public charging is mostly going to be 220-volt ac which is slow.

I'm not buying it for road trips but it would be nice to run to Sisters 50 miles fast charge for a bit while having lunch run around town and head home. Rather than spend half a day charging as CCS becomes more abundant and I'm sure longer-range electric minis will be out soon the car may start to fill more needs another reason I leased it if I like it and want more range I can simply trade it in for a long range version if/when they have it.

For now, I have the first world problem of deciding which of the three gas minis to take on the longer drives.

Good call on leasing, paying for battery packs scares me. I'm a fossil fueled guy, but these electric cars do hold my attention.

For my wife & I an electric car with a gas powered one would be a good combination. Electric for the city & gas for road trips.

Let us know how it goes.

I was at my local MINI dealer in Vancouver BC (Canada) on the weekend and asked when the Electric MINI was coming in. He told me likely end of January. However, I won't be able to get a testdrive for awhile yet because they are already sold out their allotment locally and have even taken the allotment from Eastern Canada.

yep I just got in on one all sold out for a while according to the dealer they will be filling orders all year I should get one in the first shipment in march maybe sooner.
It's funny reading online comments range sucks, no one will buy it, too little too late, shitty performance. Yet every dealer I know of is sold out before having any.
Same thing happened when the bmw mini first came out for about 4 years they appreciated in value our 2004 was worth and could be sold for more than we paid until about mid 2005.

Agreed - it will be interesting to see how these do from a sales perspective. I would be interesting to understand how many initially are available since they are sold out.. are we talking 100's or 1000's I wonder.

Cant wait to see how they drive and true daily range etc. I can say a good friend of mine who was a petrol head loves his tesla.

Wonder if this MINI EV is any better then the last one they made years ago that you could only lease.

To me MINI still needs a new design group. Including whoever picks out OEM wheels. (Vomit)

I'm sure it's better than the old MINI E, it would have to be. Yes those wheels are pretty gut wrenching. I believe you can get others & lose that vomit yellow on the mirrors & trim.

Ah, those wheels remind me of the old "fitting square pegs into round holes" routine...it didn't work then and it appears BMW still as not gotten the message in that regard.

Rumors have it that the MINI SE wheels were designed to look like the UK electricity wall plugs.

I noted that the MINI SE that I looked at, at a local dealership, had normal MINI Cooper type wheel designs. I'm still not keen on the LED panel pod on the steering column but otherwise, if you remove the vomit yellow striping, it looks like any other MINI Cooper.

I find electrifying classic anything sad, but especially a Mini. What's your take folks?
