I feel like Tapatalk for iOS hasn't been making any improvements and the quality is going downhill. Is forum runner better?

The mobile solutions are at a bit of a turmoil stage these days.

TapaTalk hasn't really been keeping up with the ForumRunner features and has been adding in app purchases to benefit TapaTalk.

ForumRunner has been purchased by Internet Brands and customer service has gone downhill. There is also talk of ditching the paid version of ForumRunner that many of you have purchased and giving the app away by supporting it with advertising in the app. Forum owners would have 0 control of the apps with all revenues going to Internet Brands.

An alternative is to contract with TapaTalk or ForumRunner to create a Motoring Alliance branded app. For those of you that use either app to view multiple forums this would mean adding yet another app for just Motoring Alliance access. I'm loathe to purchase a M/A specific app from either. ForumRunner costs $599 annually for an iOS and Android app. Tapatalk runs $4,298 to have both an iOS and Android app. While that is a license to use the app in perpetuity, updates cost. One has to purchase time blocks from Tapatalk for updates. These run $50 hr with a minimum purchase of 20 hours.

Both apps have priced smaller sites such as Motoring Alliance out of the picture.

So which is better? I use ForumRunner unless I need to handle moderation when on the road, then I use TapaTalk.

ForumRunner is US based, owned by Internet Brands, the same people that own the sewing site.

TapaTalk is Chinese, based out of Hong Kong, they are independent...for now.

That is not good news. There seems to be no way to get away from stinking advertising these days. Adds in moderation are OK, but they always go overboard. I rarely watch TV for that very reason. Five minutes of show and fifteen minutes of adds. :mad2:

Tapatalk has a new update to the app. It's mostly bug fixes and in app purchases. Please note that all in app purchases for Tapatalk benefit Tapatalk only. Revenue is not shared with the site.

You got it. The moths were attracted to the light of the tubes. They landed on them, got fried, and the tube overheated causing errors in the output.
