Call TRS (the retrofit source ). They will have the advice and the bulbs you need and they will not be eBay or Amazon fakes.

OSRAM and PHILLIPS are OEM but a lot of people sell knock offs to you have to be careful and by from a real authorized dealer. Morimoto is a great aftermarket brand that I use and have not had any issues with.

Because all HID’s “xenons” color shift overtime and loose brightness.

Surprised there was no response to this question. I personally don’t have any but with all the R53 folks here I’m sure someone does.

My wife's S has Xenons but we are having no problems with them...so far. MY S doesn't have Xenons but the old bulbs have been replaced at my local auto store in the past with no problems. My R50 has never needed bulb replacements and it is an early '03!

They all work, but I am sure after almost 15 yrs there are not as bright as they once were. The halogens are not so much the concern, but having no experience with the xenons not sure about brands and such.

If your xenons are still working, why change them?

If you still have OEM 2004 lights (before the facelift) you should have reflector HID’s and you use the 2dr.

Think of it as R= reflectors.

I would always call them and just be sure.

The 2ds are for Hid’s With Projectors type lights which are very common now. The 1st gens had two HID set ups and mid run “the facelift” got the projectors.

The first gen GP is the exception because they used the reflector version to save weight in 2006.

You can always double check with www.realoem.com and type in your VIN or swing by a dealership If you have one local.

Please make sure you take out a bulb and check it for any D2R markings on the base. On my 05 JCW it has d2s on the front of the clear lense that you can see even with the light trim ring installed.
