I thought my top engine mount was going because I was getting the knock sound every time I stomped on the gas. Well, after installing the scoop, the knock sound was gone. So it was likely the noise was the inter-cooler hitting the diverter and knocking it up against the bonnet.

Hey Ken...
Looks sweet.
You had me going there. With the scoop laying on the MINI box. Thought they came out with a new accessory I didn't know about.
I've always wanted to try my hand a wrapping. I would have thought it would have been very difficult to make some of those bends without getting wrinkles. Obviously this isn't your first attempt at this. -

The CF was wrap was applied by one of the (recently former) sales guys at MINI Richmond (BC). He does wraps as a side in his spare time. I think he did a great job.
The JCW scoop cost more than I could get WAF (wife acceptance factor) for so I had to settle for a stock primered scoop. BTW, parts are generally from 20 to 75% less expensive in the US than in Canada. So the scoop was picked up from Rasmussen MINI in Oregon. -

Hey Rixter.....
Send Ken down to Columbus. I'll let him borrow my Un-modified scoop grill. Then he can make a quick trip into the dealer. File a claim. And get it repaired under warranty.
Easy Squeezy..... -
I wonder if opening up the grill on the R56 hood scoops would allow enough cooling air in to prevent the warping.

If you check the hood just after shutting off the engine, it's very cool. Come back in 15 minutes, and stick your hand on the hood and you will find it's really hot. -
Hmmmmm....maybe a computer fan that could come on for maybe 5 minutes after the car is shut off to blow air and hopefully circulate the heat away from the hood scoop might work....but could be draining to the battery.

MiniFini has stainless steel grills that replace the mostly blocked stock grille. the s.s.grille
Has 80% open area vs. only 25% on stock. It really works to vent off the turbo heat. I've had them on both my r-55 JCW and My wife's r-56 , no more warped scoop problems. -
Anyone know where i can get a MCS hood scope GRILL for my R52 (2007 Convertible 1st gen) ..... w/supercharger. Haven't notice the heat issue mentioned when you stop, just want to stop crud getting in the engine bay. The Minifin product does not mention my product year? These easy to install, do you have to take the scoop out?
-
The Mini -Fini item P2 and P3 both fit your car. Not sure if you have to pull the scoop out to fit this or not. I'd give them a a call or send a PM to MinifiniGirl.
