We don't need it to be electric, we all know those electric cars are worse than gas cars.

If BMW is doing it it will be too tall and ugly like a Smart car or the iQ, somehow they will mess it up.

Mini Executive Says No to Smaller Model (automobilemag.com)

Mini does not currently plan to launch a smaller model below the Cooper, potentially called the Minor, BMW board member for Mini Peter Schwarzenbauer told Automotive News. "I donâ€™t see a smaller car than the current one," he said.

Schwarzenbauer's remarks counter a report from AUTOMOBILE European bureau chief Georg Kacher, who said the new Mini Minor would launch to expand the brand's lineup. In January, Kacher revealed that Mini would work with Toyota to co-develop a smaller, more affordable Mini that could be called the Minor. It could be priced to start around $14,500 to $16,000, with styling inspired by the Rocketman concept (see our renderings of the car).

"It's still early days as far as the baby Mini goes,â€ a Mini source told Kacher. â€œBut when our new R&D board member Klaus FrÃ¶hlich traveled to America early in the new year, this was one of the subjects on his agenda.â€

Schwarzenbauer also threw cold water on continued reports that the wild Mini Superleggera roadster is destined for production. In January, Kacher said that the sporty concept would reach production by 2018, although it was unclear whether the show car's plug-in hybrid powertrain could reach showrooms.

While Schwarzenbauer told Automotive News the car could be, "a great addition to the Mini range," he continued that, "I cannot confirm that it has been approved yet."
