I think there's a procedure to program remote lock/unlock, but programming for the ignition and keyless entry will have to be done at a dealer. I haven't even heard of anybody successfully using a new or replacement aftermarket key. -

I believe Nathan is correct. The little flying saucer shaped key must be plugged into the mother ship computer at the dealer.
Did your MINI only come with one of them? -

Thanks for the help guys, Yes please do, if you know any good mini mechanics near me that would be great I live in San Francisco CA, and the remote was purchased after market but it is OEM, cause I only got one key with the car. Thanks!
