From where (aftermarket)?

I think there's a procedure to program remote lock/unlock, but programming for the ignition and keyless entry will have to be done at a dealer. I haven't even heard of anybody successfully using a new or replacement aftermarket key.

 

From all I've read, and it is not the be all end all on this, the 1st gen keys can be reprogrammed at home. The newer, 2nd gen ones require a trip to the dealer or a shop that has a GT1.

@soulrider911 where are you located. We could possibly point out a good independent shop in your area.

I believe Nathan is correct. The little flying saucer shaped key must be plugged into the mother ship computer at the dealer.

Did your MINI only come with one of them?

Might want to give them a call and see if they can handle the job.
