    Hi Guys.
First, I do love my 04 Cooper 'S'.
Had one of the original Mini's back then and, while this one is more BMW than Mini, I still get a kick out of driving it.
Now, at 135,000 miles, it's giving me trouble.
I've recently had the body module replaced (locked me out!) and have replaced the power steering pump, the starter, the coil pack, ignition wires and fuel injectors.
NOW, the oil pressure light is on -------sometimes!
I've read about "intermittent" oil lights, mostly at idle but this is different.
Mine stays off till the engine warms up then comes on HOWEVER, it goes off while accelerating!
It does NOT go off if I rev the engine (3000rpm). Just as I accelerate!
I picture oil sloshing around the crank case and ------- well, I don't know what's going on there (no, it's not down on oil, first thing I checked).
Sure would appreciate any insights you could share.
    Thanks
    Alex in Myrtle Beach

First, welcome to the best MINI forum on the internet. Second, I am not a tech, nor do I try to play one on the internet. With that said, I think your problem is caused by a bad oil pump, bad rod, journal, or cam bearings. Or a long shot, a bad sensor. I hope someone will tell me I'm full of 'it'...

    Welcome to MA!

I would start with the sensor. I have seen bad oil pressure sensors do this on all marks. The last one was my wife's Toyota. Her gage would go to 0 at idle. If you have kept the oil changed and not ran it out of oil, more then likely it is not anything big.

Welcome to M/A! Could your problems arise from all that salty air?

Thanks for the encouraging words, MCS02. I'm inclined to agree with you. Never even low on oil and have serviced regularly.

Now, where the heck is that sensor?

Thanks for your input, WMWNY but I just moved here 6 months ago after leaving southern Illinois.
Besides which, my cast iron tools (table saw, drill press, lathe etc) are fine.
While in deep southern Texas, my tools would rust over night so I'd guess the air quality was pretty good around here.
