    MINIs Power Steering motors are known to go bad. Sounds like you have the classic symptoms of a motor on its way out. Might want to check to make sure there is nothing stuck blocking the fan from cooling the pump.

    Like Nathan said sounds like the ps pump is going away. Check that the fan is not clogged with debris. If the fan is not working the pump will overheat & stop working. Good luck.
