:cornut: I'm also a Texan and Texans all know that Austin is a suburb of San Francisco that just happens to be in the middle of Texas. This happened when Austin for some unknown reason became a nut magnet for hippies and alternate life style types, go figure.:crazy:

:cornut: Well let's see here. No Sir, I call Buda, Hays County(just over the Travis County line) Texas my original home but, I have lived in Austin in the past(guilty). My current home is up on the Red River which is the border of one of our previous counties, Indian Territory/Oklahoma. Oklahoma has no gravity but, as the whole place sucks, it doesn't need it and it keeps Texas from sliding into the Gulf of Mexico(for all Oklahomans, feel free to chime in about us Texans. This is the friendly/funny MA site after all). My (leftist) sister still lives in Austin and for obvious reasons, loves it there. When I lived there, there were only 3 institutions(I use the term lightly Tee Hee:devil in town: the Texas Capital, The University of Texas(Hook'em Horns), and Bergstrom Air Force Base(now the Austin City Airport). Now, Austin is this HUGE Megalopolis
that bares absolutely no resemblance to the rest of Texas and is disclaimed by the rest of us Texans.

:cornut: As Sergeant York said in the movie of the same name: "The Lord do work in mysterious ways." My lovely wife is a Sherman Bearcat, class of '68(that's 1968 not 1868:devil. I'm a Del Valle(Travis County) Cardinal(the school for Air Force brats from Bergstrom, AFB), class of '71. I drive through Pottsboro and Tioga all the time. Lots of lightly traveled roads through there. Just watch out for the occasional drunken:beer naked:crazy::eek6: C&W star lying in the middle of the road.

...and I think I hold the TT record (est. 1972) for getting from Lowe's Highport to Southeastern State College (then)... in a BMW 2002.
