Far too many distractions in today's cars & they are only getting worse. All the while skill levels of drivers are dropping. Sad stuff....

Some of this is good ABS, traction control, ect. In aviation as the aircraft became more complex company's demanded the pilots fly in the highest level of automation. It was believed that this would increase safety. Flight management systems are great when they are set up correctly. But a computer doing complex calculation when you are traveling at 300 to 600 mph can do some odd things. Ask me how I know. Also ATC will make a small change that cause one of the pilots to do lots of typing and checking.
What was found was pilots started to lose basic aviation skills. When all els fails it's those skills that prevent a accident.
I wish we had less crap in our cars and more driver training. Good drivers = safety. -

I dunno, but I do like the use of wizbang. Its easy enough to turn off after I start the car so no biggie. But traction control is what screwed me when I wrecked my TT. Had it not engaged I could have pulled out of the spin.

It's a bane for those that actually learned how to control a car. I hates it.
