Thanks appreciate the info, as far as my model it is a 2007, with supercharger, lights are up when bonnet is open and side skuttles are like the one you have on top. Mine has the big glass sunroof also.So far the light hasn't come back on.
Supercharged, lights in the hood and the flat scuttle, it's an '06 also known to be one of the best years for MINI. Do you always run premium gas in your car?
Well, we don't know it is a 2006, but from the description it is an R53. And the last for that model was 2006, it could be an earlier year, but definitely an R53.
Look at the plate in the door for the build date to be sure. 06 Hardtops were built through October of 06.
Man I feel like a total idiot. It is an 06, just looked at the data plate. I don't know how I got to thinking it was an 07, Guess I am getting to old to think. Thanks for the info. You said the 06 mini's were some of the best, that makes me feel good. Sure do like it, I have wanted one of these ever since I seen the original Italian Job when I was in the Army in 1970. Here is a picture of it.
Very nice. Love those wheels! I had an '06 for almost 7 years and loved every second of it. 2006 was the last year that they made the Cooper S hardtop w/ the supercharged engine. There were several improvements since launch in 2002 and a mild redesign just before the 2005 model year, so you have the best of the supercharged MINIs. There is a lot of argument of Supercharged vs. Turbo (the turbo cars are faster fresh from the factory), but the supercharged cars feel more connected to the road and more alive, IMHO. I'm a bit biased as I owned the supercharged version, but I had a turbo loaner for a week or two... a brilliant little car and a better commuter car, but for pure driving enjoyment, I'll take the supercharged version every time.
Thank you Agranger, you made my chest go out a little farther with your kind words, I sure love driving this little car. Worth every cent I paid for it.
Pure: Where in Texas are you? There are very active clubs in Dallas and Houston. There is also a great drive every December that starts south of FW and runs the twisty country roads down to Waco... a long standing tradition (7-8 years now, I think). The folks from Houston drive up and meet 'em for lunch. WacoRun | An outing from Dallas to Waco
Hey Purebred, I'm new to Mini's and this site but currently replacing mine b/c pack rats got to it. Mine is a 2002 S and I had to remove everything including the supercharger to get to it. Part was cheap but tons of labor. I'm also servicing the SC, replacing water pump, hoses, belt etc while i'm at it. I started a small post today about it. Let me know if I can help.
