 The first gen cars have an issue where the ends come off the cables the flip the latches. I don't know if the second gen cars have the same issue.

	Sorry I do not have a definitive answer for you but agree that driving it without knowing the oil level could be a costly mistake ..... and Welcome to Motoring Alliance the bestest MINI forum on the interweb !!
