Ha ha... You're going to fit right in here! Thanks for the PM's, I am always up for helping somebody out. We just need to find you a MINI!

Then, get together and make a well thought out plan of mods to get you what you want without chasing your tail like I did, or ending up with $3-$5K worth of parts that are useless or make things worse. (Also like I did!)

Best thing you can do right now is research... Look up EVERYTHING you can think of, on all the forums. Think about what does what, what the main purpose of your MINI going to be, and how long you are planing to keep dumping money into the project. There isnt much out there for any part of an R53 that is fleabay Honda cheap, but you get what you pay for.

All that being said, I live up in Thornton, and if you want to get together some time and talk shop, I will help with everything I know. :)

Hey Tristan, welcome to ClubCivic.com, where all of your wildest ricey modifications can come to true fruition. We will be having a meeting on Thursday to discuss the latest colors for upcoming LED underbody kits, as well as a starter conversation on what the best fart-can exhaust is (I'm a fan of the Tanabe Medallion Series and test pipe, myself). And then we will break bread with the muscle car guys and...oh crap! Wrong forum! Oops...

Just kidding. Welcome to Motoring Alliance. This is by far the best forum of all the others you listed (not kidding), so be prepared for some serious knowledge sprinkled with maybe a little bias. These guys know what they're talking about. Me, I'm just the court jester.

Hey now, current car is a Civic! ;) Not really modded though... Just some nice, deep blue paint, and a cold air intake.... Hahaha. No LED lighting or Fast N' Furious spoiler..

Thanks for the welcome, I like you already. XD

FTR......... don't give that @$$#@+ the "sir" treatment again. It goes straight to his head.

But take his (and TheModFather's) advice to heart. They have been there. Done that. Sometimes twice. They aren't going to steer you wrong.

And remember... anything worth doing, is worth doing right the first time. (It's cheaper than doing it twice.)

If you put Neon under an R53 we will take your Man Card and ship you to Mexico for a 10 year sentence.

no matter what country you are in, we will find you and put you in Mexico.

Be very careful, dont fall in love before you see it with some else in person.

Make sure you take Dick (mod father) with you so he can give you an unbiased assesment.

You do not need to move the battery to run a straight back exhaust that is a myth. I know, since I have done it. :ihih: I run a Milltek all year and run my full SS 2 1/2 under the battery box for the Dragon and other events.

You don't want to put a FMIC on an R53 at all. It's not worth the cost. If you have to upgrade your IC from the OEM one just get the GP IC it works great and was designed by people that know what they are doing.

One thing you may consider is a Meth kit over a GP IC. (cooler air charge, increased octane, cleaner motor internals...ect)

The Countryman is where I draw the line... The Paceman is where the brand went south for me, I really cant stand looking at it or the F'ed models!

I'm not going this weekend either, Ive got too much to do to get my car ready for April.

Honestly the R56 is where I draw the line. I test drove one back to back with an R53, and the increase in weight and size and life less nature of the steering shocked me. I much prefer the small, tight nature of the R53, along with the linear S/C over the sudden turbo boost.

Lol! What if he's in Mexico? Do we then send him to France so he can surrender willingly and be shipped back to Mexico?

In the Spring (MOTD) I run a custom 2.5 SS straight back exhaust and do not believe I have any power loss at all.

My custom exhaust is connected to an RMW shorty header and only has 2 small straight through Magnaflow resonators to quite it down a just a little.

Nathans car is louder but then again he has blown mufflers, or at least did have them.

That is a nice ride. Just ditch the butchered afe intake and get a DDM intake.

Next toss that MSD coil and plug wires in the trash, they have been known to cook the DME or ECU. They are not worth the risk and OEM works perfectly in Modded MINI's.

You have a good plan just low ball her at 6k and work your way up to 7k or more but in no way pay 8-10k for an almost 10 year old car with 68k on the clock.

Btw that's not a JCW kit, it just just has the black wheel arches and side skirts painted body color. Try to find out if it's a one owner car or are you getting someone's else's failed project that they bought off someone else.

Make sure you check the crank pulley /damper and pray it does not have a lightweight ALTA crank pulley.

    Yeah, I've heard stories....

Alright, I'll see what I can do. This is all tentative right now, but I'll let you know when we've agreed to something. Maybe it'll do some good to get out and looking at cars. Always puts me in a pretty decent mood. :)
