Have something against Alta too?? Dear me!! XD Why ditch the aftermarket coil-pack? And it's worth at least 7, no way I could offer 6. Hahaha! That made me cry a little.... Doesn't even know the difference between SC and TC. Also she only knows the exhaust is aftermarket. And she doesn't know the make of the exhaust... But that's fine by me! Her ignorance could turn out to be my bliss. XD
I smell stupid, but like I said, I'll drag the ModFather down to check it out. If anyone knows what a dangerous MINI looks like, it's him. Lol.
Yeah, I got interior pics and close-ups of the wheels, and it all seems to be in pretty great shape! A few flaws, but I'll take those with a lower price any day.
I just know that I have been told by many to stick with the OEM coilpack and wires because the aftermarket ones don't play well with these cars. Especially once you start modding.
Hmm... Alright! Ill ditch 'em when I have the funds. I'm sure they'll work ok for a while (Famous last words....)
That is a nice ride. Just ditch the butchered afe intake and get a DDM intake. Next toss that MSD coil and plug wires in the trash, they have been known to cook the DME or ECU. They are not worth the risk and OEM works perfectly in Modded MINI's. You have a good plan just low ball her at 6k and work your way up to 7k or more but in no way pay 8-10k for an almost 10 year old car with 68k on the clock. Btw that's not a JCW kit, it just just has the black wheel arches and side skirts painted body color. Try to find out if it's a one owner car or are you getting someone's else's failed project that they bought off someone else.
I'm a fan/ Very simple and classy. I'm thinking de-chrome and throw in a splash of red with a GP wing. XD Sir, yes sir. It shall be done. Let it happen as you have said. Alright, we'll see how she responds to that. I want it bad. XD
Let me know when you want to go look at it. I have a couple pieces of my intake box to paint in the morning, and a couch to yank out of the basement and put in the garage (makes all those hours of looking at my car more comfortable) but outside of that I'm pretty free. As the others have said, ditch that MSD coil (new OEM is around $100) and see what is up with that intake... It says its an AFE, but it looks kinda beat to hell and cobbled back together to me. There really isn't an easy way to tell if its a JCW without checking the VIN and service records. (The JCW kits where dealer installed prior to delivery on R53's) Outside of that, the car looks pretty clean for an 8 year old car. I would start an offer at $7K and go up depending on their response... It is a modified car, and the owner knows little to nothing about it... It needs "fixed" is your bargaining chip here.
Be very careful, dont fall in love before you see it with some else in person. Make sure you take Dick (mod father) with you so he can give you an unbiased assesment.
I'm actually kinda busy, I'm looking at next Tuesday, the 11th. Gonna meet up somewhere in Golden. I'd love to come take a look at the Rat Rod when we do go take a look at it, if possible. Ok, so two things that need replacing. I really hope she's running a reduction pulley too.... Something I need to buy but it "Speeds up wear and tear on the engine internals". Lol. Alright, I'll check the VIN as soon as she sends it. It does look quite decent! Driver's seat has small mark, so I can use that, wheels have some curb rash, can use that. It has just enough problems to knock the price down a bit.
Make sure you check the crank pulley /damper and pray it does not have a lightweight ALTA crank pulley.
If you can make the meeting after 5 on the 11th that'll do. Even though its Veterans day, and I normally just sit around the house... Golden is pretty close, we could just swing by my place afterwords.
Yeah, I've heard stories.... Alright, I'll see what I can do. This is all tentative right now, but I'll let you know when we've agreed to something. Maybe it'll do some good to get out and looking at cars. Always puts me in a pretty decent mood.
The car does look good. The reason I would take the ModFather and look at it good is the way it looks under the hood. The add said it has several mods that's good but it looks like crap. If they didn't take time to make it look nice it makes me worried they just slapped the mods on with little care. You don't want to spend money correcting someone's bad mod job. Good luck! I hope it turns out to be a good deal.
Cool looking little kart. I hope you're able to secure it for a good price...I know you've wanted one a long time, so taking ModFather with you will help keep you in check.
Hey all. Need some more help. Can anyone comment on the brakes/exhaust/suspension From this angle?? I'll add a few pics from other angles to try and help. Cheers.
