Thanks Dave for putting up the link, I only have 15 minute breaks at work to go through everything... Thanks Junkie, its been a long year getting it where it is now... All started with a weird dream, and I remembered I did actually have an R53 sitting in the garage! So far its perfect in my mind. You must be talking about Corey's car? ? He has blown 2 axles in the last week, because he is trying to make his suspension do things that MINI suspensions shouldn't do! Oh Killboy, one of the photographers at the Dragon put these up this morning... Not sure how anybody could argue with a view like that! Well unless you are the 50 year old computer nerd that lives in his moms basement, and only comes out when his gaming site shuts down... (Like my brother in law)
Who Corey's? I think its cool, but done very cheaply based on bad advise. Which means he will probably have it fail over and over until he dumps it off to be somebody else's problem. But his idea is as far out of the box as mine, and he really is a cool guy in general.
Hahahaha Dick is working to fix is walk down the Mynes/Sprintex path of motor death. It's all good with most of us here, we all wear out big boy pants.
After break in, it really turned into a much more fun and powerful car. BUT, I did learn that Toyota's mapping is all wrong, as this car best performs not at WOT, but at about 80%. Anything beyond that and it feels like it's choking itself out, flooding. Also, the lack of torque is pretty sad. That's to be expected from a small displacement, normally aspirated engine. But a car that turns heads should be able to turn those heads at more a break neck speed, not Pebble Beach Concourse D'Elegance speed.
Hahaha...besides, the power these Minis offer is so much better than what my FR-S has. They're a completely different animal in every regard, but like I said before, the only time I smiled as big while driving besides my FR-S has been while driving a Mini.
Even when mine was 100% stock (for that week) it made me smile as much as I did with the '05 EVO I had to get rid of... The first MINI (an '05 Justa) I had was fun, but nowhere near the car I wanted...
I know a friend with a stock '83 Camaro, and he keeps telling me what a sissy car the MINI is. But considering his car has 13 less horsepower and weighs right at 1,000 lbs more, he really has no room to talk. People underestimate these beauties so badly. And their potential, especially with a low budget, is through the roof.
Poor guy.... I feel bad for him, really. I wanted to do the same thing as him as far as suspension and tire/wheel set up for a long time, but I guess I'll take this is a big warning not to!! At least something good came from it, eh?
