I was partial to the old one but I think that's more a result of being used to it than it being substantially better than this new design. How about just switching the position of the MINIs and the M/A shield? People read from left to right, so it puts M/A front and center without having to put it, well, in the center. Either way, I'm just happy you continue to push M/A in a positive direction.

Versus I agree about reading left to right, however having the graphic in the right side is reminiscent of some other site

OK, so I don't do change well. The new header is growing on me, so I guess I'm in.

    if it aint broke....

not to say it's not a great idea to freshen up. But that looks like an idea, not a completed graphic. Very 1998 student designer. ;) (no offense as I don't know who made it, regardless it's not personal.)

Yeah I know, I'm the bad guy.

How about adding a gradient? You should be able to do that algorithmically. That'll allow you to keep the right side the same but vary the left. It also helps the logo to really stand out.

I also agree with the comment about keeping the font consistent.

    Rough cut:

Actually it's about 150 miles north of Fargo, on the shore of [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Winnipeg"]Lake Winnipeg [/ame]

    Johngo,

I take it you made this banner? As I said before I have the Adobe MC if you want me to whip up some transparent .png's so you can use that gradient idea.

    Nathan,

Do you want me to see if I can get the engine that cycles through pictures? I don't know how you feel about member input. :p

Sure, that would be great, I'm buried in other projects right now and could use the coding help.

Let me know if you have questions as to how the header is currently displayed.

    Thanks!

    Hey Hughes,

I did. I have CS4, so I am capable of anything necessary from the graphics side. I just don't do coding. I hate it actually... :D

Not sure how that'll work... That center blurred area is just a 6 pixel wide background image that fills to whatever the width of the center frame is. If you can make it darken slightly each time it is used, ending in black, then that might be possible. But then, I am not sure if it stretches to fill or if it repeats.

Nathan, do you know if the image repeats or if it stretches? If it stretches, I can fade it easily enough, although it may need to be larger than 6 pixels to get a smooth gradient. If it repeats, I am of no use as it will require a bit more left brain action than I can muster.

You can see below how far the center section stretches on my monitor.
