I'm thinking of putting these on the MINI:

    ContiProContact SSR

    205/55/16

If you've had experience with these tires and or this size , please share your impressions.

    Tx,

    Les

My OEM Conti NON run-flats lasted 70K:Thumbsup:
I know longer worry much about how long a tire will last, as I put way fewer miles on them each year.

My tires would not last 70k even if I kept them in the boot.

    70K!!

You're supposed to put them ON the car.

    Not IN the car.

    Sheesh.

100+ miles a day on straight bald ass prairie does not wear much on tires.

Ah yes. I remember a picture of your car with the front completely covered in smashed bugs.

That probably affected your KPG but not tire wear.

Here's a Tire Rack page showing user ratings of tires in that category (bold items are available in your size):
    Consumer Survey Results By Category

    The Continentals are ranked 5th.

Thanks Bee.......one of the things I want in a tire is Run Flat. And the SSR has that.

    I'm really curious if I'll see fitment/rubbing issues on a stock R53.

So far, no one has chimed in on that question.

I did the math a little while ago, and 205/55/16 was 2% larger in circumference than stock 195/55/16. I've read that if you're within 3% you're okay as far as your gauges are concerned.

I used that same math on my engine and gained 4.5 hp.

I did that math, and I can tighten my belt 1 hole:Thumbsup:

Not to worried about the speedo on mine, it reads in KMs only, and even though I can convert pretty fast, close is good enough.

Ok....got the new Conti RUNFLATS in 205/55/16 mounted a couple of days ago. Smoother ride (for the time being), quieter (for the time being). I'm satisfied.

    Here's a pic.........

Oh.....and did I mention that they are RUNFLATS?
