I'm 51 and have worked on cars/motorcycles since I was about 12. The best lessons I learned were taught by my stepfather. His father opened a Motorcycle store and it grew to a couple stores that sold a verity a things, mostly Motocycle Like Indian, Excelsior, and several other brands. But not Harleys we don't even say that name. I asks him to go to that brands shops once, I got in big trouble.. He worked at the shops before and after the war. He taught me the old was of doing things. Like you fix a part, when you can, not through it away(of course you never through anything away).
The MINI may be different but all the old ways still work(except it is a little more disposable). So your experience will be useful.
We are always ready to help and we never tell some to do a search for an answer. But I will worn you the ribbing and sarcasm can get pretty tough around here. Its all in good fun. I hope we get to meet you at one of the MINI events, like the Dragon.

That's exactly what I meant. Unfortunately, it has been more than a day since I wrote that, and I forget things pretty quickly, so I had to go back and review what I wrote just to make sure.

Hahaha...because I didn't want a red FR-S to overshadow Stef's little hot hatch. If both cars were red, the eyes would automatically go to the car that was bigger. And we both know her car is prettier than mine, so silver it is.-

Welcome to M/A! Great car, and especially since it is an R53!
You'll get a lot of help here from the many R53 owners.

Enjoy the new MINI. -
I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here and hope that we don't. But I was sure we had a R52! Being that it is a convertible. However I do understand that the basic rest of the MCS is the same as the R53. Thanks

Welcome to MA, Lin and Dave. Sounds like a fun purchase! Without overstepping, perhaps we might look forward to some advice from YOU, as you seem to have a vast knowledge of the automobile as a whole? At any rate, welcome and looking forward to your thoughts.

Gee wiz wmwny I said I wouldn't name names!:lol: I couldn't help myself. I couldn't pass up a chance to pull the chain of you auto guys!

Lin and Dave sorry to hear you've decided to give up the Bike but the top down on the Mini will be close to the same. I have an old Indian I'm putting together. I know its hard to get rid of the bike.
Glad your here its a fun site with lots of helpful people. -

Why would you say that, and what would make you even think it.

All my worst decisions were made at times I didn't seek your input first. I have learned from that and am working to correct it. Spray paint and hours of sanding it is. -
Not sure we will get to the Dragon, but we are going to try our best to do the Mito (Minis in the Ozarks, Eureka Springs AR.) one in late October. Anyone on here doing that one?
Thanks
Ln and Dave
