    I am a 3 MINI owner...all generation 1s. Two were bought used and the third was bought new. I have had few problems owning them.

    There are some really good ones that use a PC. One of our members @Dave.0 uses that is even better than mine. I have two Minis and my wife has a one, my scan tool made for its self in a month. A good scan tool will save you lots of money. When a put a new battery in a Gen2 Mini you have to register it that allows will save you the about $100 these are fun addictive cars. I will worn you your sons Mini has a N14 engine. That some will that it is made of glass. Its not but it has some things you need to check and take care of. My 2012 JCW Coupe has an N14 engine.
