I hope I'll be able to understand him.... Some Britt's have a hard time speaking English.... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WvIwkL8oLc"]Learn the Cockney accent with Jason Statham - YouTube[/ame]
Yeah, you have to think they picked Chris Evans as he is the only guy who thinks more of himself than even Jeremy Clarkson does....
I could understand him. However, I once stopped for directions at a store on the motorway near Stratfford, and the clerk told me three times, and I went back to the car having no idea what she said. CD
I know that the BBC will not do it because of the potential earnings that Top Gear would/could make for them, but they should let the show go. It had pretty much run it's course anyway. As someone rightly said in another thread, over the last 2 or 3 seasons it was getting kinda stale, the same old/same old.
But he's a real character, that's probably the point. You don't want beige wallpaper. And he's full of himself, which is practically a job requirement for that show. Plus he knows why Clarkson was sacked and he knows how and why Clarkson got himself in trouble time and time again long before the sacking. I imagine there was quite a discussion before he was hired. Of course, none of that means he'll be successful.....either at entertaining the Top Gear audience or staying out of trouble.
The BBC have said that the new team will have at least one female presenter and the front runner appears to be former model Jodie Kidd, who is a car nut, has presented a classic car TV show already and even was a racing driver briefly. In a nice twist, Jodie Kidd did a 1min 48.0sec lap in the 'reasonably priced car' Suzuki Liana while Chris Evans did a 1min 47.9sec, so you can see there might be some discussion about that on air. Oh, and given her former occupation, Jodie isn't ugly....
to quote my son: "whatever" Even if Dumbledore himself was to host the new Top Gear, it will be a bust and the ratings will drop. from the BBC itself, Analysis: David Sillito, BBC media and arts correspondent: "Chris Evans is one of Britain's most successful broadcasters. He loves cars, he understands how to make television and he's a friend of Jeremy Clarkson. But he ain't Jeremy Clarkson. Around the World Top Gear has appeared in different forms. The ones that work best have Jeremy Clarkson - even if he has to be dubbed into Farsi. "
Somewhere I actually found the paint code to that R50 she us standing next to... MINI only made a handfull of them in that pink, and all of them thankfully stayed on that side of the Atlantic... (Just a useless fact for something to do)
James May to host live car building show for the BBC This may actually have some car content and will be filmed at the Oxford Mini plant...... Also contains some presenter info.
