Hey Jim; Is the MINI still under factory warranty?
Dr O touched on it as a possible issue with the HPFP. Seems BMW has some issues with them going out. It shows up on some MINI forums and even Peugeot forums as having problems with the HPFP. Your symptoms sound similar. MINI may try to blame it on poor gas, but BMW & MINI seem to have a problem here. One more thing for you to check out.

I couldn't answer that question in depth, but should be. I did a web search, and several forums talk about a software up-grade applying to the HPFP. Practically everything on this engine is somehow monitored by the ecu. I would sure bet that fuel pressure is defiantly one of them.
So, do you use top tier gas at the recommended octane? -

It' looking more like the MINI just didn't like that you put the seafoam in the gas.

You may want to try and clear any codes before you take it in to the MINI dealer for service. If not, they may question you about what went into your gas tank. The owners manual specifically states not to add any gas additives. No sense messing up your warranty.

This rather interesting and I am not sure what to make of it, considering the problems we discussed above. I put my third tank of fresh gas in and started home on a two and a half hour freeway / back road trip. As I said in another thread, I watch my MPG and my one time best was 123 to the first ligh and 108 to the second light on the guage. This time I went 133 to the first and 113 to the second. :confused5: At any rate, I'm not putting Sea Foam in the tank ever again. :nonod:
